Parker and Rory arrived, laden down with grocery bags, and looking tired. "The usual, please. We need a break before we go back." Parker smirked at Jarod. "And how have you been since Sunday? Since I haven't talked to you since then," she added pointedly.

Jarod smiled at Parker and placed a Diet Coke with Lime in front of her and a Shirley Temple with extra cherries in front of Rory. "Hey. Why would I have talked to you after Friday? I spent all weekend talking to you. I needed to recuperate."

"Monday was interesting. A blonde in leather, I think her name was Callisto, threw a kahlua and milk all over that vampire you warned me about...Darla."

Parker had stuck her tongue out at the 'recuperating' line, then taken a sip of Diet Coke.
And nearly choked on the Darla revelation. "God. Don't do that when I'm drinking! What happened after that?"

"Well, yeah. I have to buy her a drink, next time I see her." Parker shook her head. "Although, on a scale of one to stupid, pissing off your boyfriend's vampire ex ranks up there with wearing golfing shorts."

"Come on, would *you* want an angry and possessive vampire thinking it would be a good idea to eliminate the competition?" Parker demanded.

He shrugged. "They almost got into a fight, but I...reasoned with them and they spent the rest of the night at opposite ends of the bar."

"You what?" Parker's voice spiralled upward. "Reasoned with Darla? That is not a reasonable person! What really happened? What did you do?"

"No, I told her to get away or get out, because violence wasn't allowed in Caritas," Jarod replied, firmly. "She sat down on the stool. After that, the evening was fairly uneventful."

Parker stared at him a moment, then said, "I need rum in my Diet Coke. Now. Please?"

Jarod obligingly poured the rum, but didn't hesitate to lecture. "You know that's not good for your ulcer, Parker."

"Parker, you seem very concerned for Jarod," Rory observed. "Which makes sense, since he is very special to you." She turned to Jarod. "Parker thinks you are special."

The Tick walked into Caritas with notes on tomorrow's lesson in hand. Taking a seat at the bar, he ordered his usual tall glass of milk.

"Good evening, sir!" Jarod said, cheerily, as he poured the milk, and, after some internal debate, added a blue umbrella.

Out of nowhere, a mysterious (blue) water balloon comes flying at The Tick.

The balloon hit The Tick in the back of the head. "Huh," Tick said. "I feel slightly damp." Tick finally looked behind him and saw the remains of a balloon, as well as a puddle. "Well, that's something that doesn't happen everyday. Not in January, at least."
