Wednesday Night--Caritas--OPEN

Jarod walked into Caritas, more than a little surprised to find that it was open and appeared to have been doing a brisk business. He cleared away empty glasses and restocked the bar supplies, happy to have something to do. He was still exhausted and a bit...off...after his nightmare. At least he'd spoken with Parker and she was safe.

He took his customary spot behind the bar, but slid the emergency stake into his back pocket, just in case.

"Hey, Jarod! Thanks for last night," GOB said as he walked up to the bar. "Just a Scotch tonight, no bottle."

Fraser finds his way to Caritas simply because it's on the way to The Fourth Sin and, with all the trouble he's heard about in town, might as well stop in to make sure everything's all right.

Seeing GOB Bluth at the bar is a surprise though.

"Good evening, Mr. Bluth," Fraser says, smiling.

GOB rolled his eyes. "Good evening, security guy. How are you tonight?'

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm well," Fraser answers. "I take it you've suffered no harm while the town's been lawless?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Except for thinking I'm a frog and having Becky shoot at me, no," GOB said, sipping his drink. "Have you been harmed at all?" he asked hopefully.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Fortunately, I seem to have avoided injury," Fraser says, standing at the bar next to GOB. "Why was Becky shooting at you? Was she in danger?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"The only thing she was in danger of was losing my business. And she did!" GOB laughed. "Have fun sexing her up or whatever it is Canadians do."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Fraser's rendered momentarily speechless. "I have no intention of having that kind of relationship with Becky. Why did she lose your business?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course," GOB said. He wondered for a moment what Becky would think when she found out her mountie was gay.

"In the past couple weeks, she's thrown knives at me, punched me, and laughed when a crazy witch made me think I was a frog. That's terrible customer service. Screw her." GOB thought for a second before adding, "Except you won't." He may have chuckled.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
"No, most likely I won't," Fraser answers, frowning. "And those do sound like drastic actions. Tell me, did you ever ask her why she was being violent towards you?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm sorry, but I don't stick around to ask questions when people throw knives and shoot at me," GOB said. "Only a crazed pothead would do that."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I am glad she managed to miss you," Fraser says honestly. "Tell me, Mr. Bluth, why is it you think I'm trying to have a personal relationship with Becky? I've visited one time and I called her once to make sure she was safe. That hardly constitutes ulterior motives."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Actually, you convinced me that you have no ulterior motives, buddy," GOB said, making sure Fraser wasn't looking at him in a special way. "But she has ulterior motives. Watch out for that."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Evidently she had no ulterior motives with you," Fraser says off handedly. "As for Becky, I believe I can handle her."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"No ulterior motives with me and I'm a better man for it," GOB said, toasting with his glass and taking a drink.

"And she wants you to handle her. She's not really being quiet about it, either. But good for you, being able to resist feminine wiles somehow." GOB laughed a little into his glass.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"I just believe myself a gentleman, Mr. Bluth." Fraser frowns at him. "Obviously you were doing something wrong since she no longer wanted you around. Perhaps I'll stop by tomorrow and see how she's...faring without the Bluth business."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Considering that she didn't start shooting until after I told her I wasn't coming back? I don't think I really did anything wrong," GOB said, a bit smugly.

"And feel free to stop by. I'm sure it'll be entertaining," he said to the flamingly gay mountie.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Mr. Bluth, GOB, your hostility towards me is unwarranted," Fraser says slowly. "I did nothing to deserve it and, honestly, it's getting tiresome. Can we put this behind us?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not being hostile," GOB said, confused. "I really think that it would be an interesting chat."

"My hostility is towards Becky. Ask Jarod if you don't believe me about the fact that she's triggerhappy," GOB said, pointing behind the bar.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Mr. Bluth, you attempted to headbutt me last weekend," Fraser says. "Honestly, Mr. Bluth, what if she does have real feelings for you and you conveyed your interest with sarcasm and business with her colleagues?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't get sarcastic at the Sin. Miho is there," GOB said seriously. "I don't think Miho appreciates sarcasm. I'm not willing to find out."

"And the one time she found out that I tried to hook up with someone who wasn't one of her girls, she threw knives at me. I went back to her girls and she was happy again." GOB smiled. "You really don't know her at all. Have fun learning. I'm sure she'll have fun learning about you, too."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps Miho would've been better for your business then?" Fraser half smiles at GOB. "After all, I didn't see her attempt to harm you in anyway."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
GOB went stark white for a moment. And then he laughed. "There's no way that's going to happen. She's way too terrifying. And I hear she has a boyfriend now anyway. The principal guy at your school."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh." That seemed like quite the odd relationship. "Very well, Mr. Bluth. I should be going but I do hope you'll think of going back and at least talking to Becky. If anything, I'll go with you to ensure she doesn't attempt to harm you."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, that's not happening," GOB said.

A thought occurred to GOB. He then said what will in eleven months be remembered as the wittiest thing he has said all year. "So, is that thing about Mounties always getting their man true?"

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Fraser puts his hat on and smiles. If he'd wanted to be realistic, he would've told GOB that it's not always a given that a criminal would be caught. But, he's feeling cocky tonight.

"Yes, Mr. Bluth, yes it is. Good night."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
After Fraser left the bar, GOB finished his drink.

And then he placed a phone call (http://likeguidelines.livejournal.com/1017.html?thread=277497#t277497) before heading home himself.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't think she really would have shot me. She didn't actually throw the knives at me a couple weeks ago, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't shoot me." GOB took a sip. "I think. You okay? You look tired."

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Definitely. And they make assumptions about people. What the hell did that even mean about me and Becky being over?" he asked, oblivious to mentions of anyone who wasn't him on the radio.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, yeah, but 'It's over'? What's over?" GOB shrugged. "You sure you don't need a nap?" he asked, mildly concerned.

Re: The Bar

[identity profile] bluth-illusions.livejournal.com 2006-01-26 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably," GOB said, sounding a little unsure. "Oh well. At least that whole mess is over." GOB toasted with his glass and drank up."

Veronica walked in and headed straight for the employee break room. She grabbed the coat and purse that she'd left there last night.

She waved at Jarod on her way out.
