Empire Records and Bidet [2/2]
Marc had left early for them this morning, so Lucas is on his own at Empire today. He's pretty sure this means he'll have to start hiring more than just people who shoplift from him.
He's by the sales desk, doing his sudoku puzzle and making buttons.
Today's mix: The Cure vs. the Smiths. Not for the already emo.

She flips through the CDs for a while longer before approaching Lucas. "So, um ... I have kind of an embarrassing question. Or, not so much embarassing as weird."

She walks over to the counter and leans on it as she talks to Lucas. "Basically, it's 1996 where I'm from. So I know music through then, and I know music for the last six months, but the decade in-between is just .... I don't get it. Got any recommendations? I like what you're playing in the store now, but that's old."

Okay, so she was retro. Completely retro. As for her question. . . .
"Alas, the latter half of the nineties decade didn't produce much by way of quality music. A lot of it was just boy bands and teen pop stars who used to be on the Mickey Mouse Club." Lucas leaned back. "There were occasional gems, though. Cake, for instance, or Ben Folds Five. Linkin Park made a good showing for a bit, until Hoobastank's 'I shoulda been in a boy band' groove stole their thunder. Canada gave us the Barenaked Ladies, who are not as visually appealing as they sound, but sing some good tunes. But if you really want to know who the most underrated geniuses of the last ten years were," he leans forward again, glancing around, "and if you tell anyone I said this, I will have to kill you," he lowered his voce to sotto. "The Spice Girls."

She goes over to the CD racks and pulls Cake's Comfort Eagle and Whatever and Ever Amen by the Ben Folds Five, as well as the Spice Girls' first CD (though the cover makes her grimace and quickly hide it under her other purchases).
"Hoobastank is actually the name of a good band?" she asks. "Because ... icky name."

"Linkin Park is the one where the guy always sounds like he's in the middle of a nervous breakdown and every so often somebody starts screaming, right? I can pass."
She hands her three CDs to Lucas. "Anything else crucial? Um, I liked the Cranberries and Stone Temple Pilots, but I want to try something new
and also the mun thinks my taste sucks."no subject
as the mun continued to dig through her mp3s and the 'net. "Well, you're not into the screaming, which I can understand. . . . Are you looking for something new which resembles the Cranberries and the Stone Temple Pilots, or something new which is completely different?Something closer to your mun's tastes (whatever those might be), perhaps?"no subject
[OOC: I suspect Angela-mun and Lucas-mun have similar musical tastes, actually. Something along the Bright Eyes/Rilo Kiley/Death Cab for Cutie continuum would work.]

The first one is always free.

4pm ish
Anyway she's here on her way to opening Chaucer's and trying very hard not to look in Lucas' eyes, which could be difficult really.
"Hey I erm here to pick up the badge," she says hoping she sounds suitably casual.
Re: 4pm ish
"Of course." Lucas opens the cash register and pulls the button out of one of the change bins. "I do hope it's to your satisfaction."
Re: 4pm ish
She takes her badge and grins when she looks at it, "that's really great thanks erm, did I get your name yesterday?" she asks, she might of but she was a little preoccupied ruining her relationship with Sawyer.

Re: 4pm ish
"There are probably people up at the school if you want me to put a poster up for you in the dorms?" she suggests.
