The Fourth Sin - Saturday Night

Becky was slouched behind the desk, a beer in hand.

She was seriously entertaining thoughts of going back up to her room and hiding, Miho's wrath about a wasted night of patronage be damned.

GOB walked into the Sin. Maybe even strutted. He moved toward the desk using whichever verb you would prefer with a big grin on his face. "Hey, Becky. How are you tonight?"

"That well?" GOB asked. "So, that was a nice song." The singing was another story, but he wasn't going to mention that right now.

"I don't remember much of it, actually," GOB said in a friendly tone. "Caritas was empty, and then that weirdo in the porta-john out there came in, so there was a lot of drinking. I think I got up and sang for Lorne and everything."

"But I got an interesting voicemail this morning." He continued grinning.

"Called me back?" GOB asked. He was still grinning, although his eyes looked mildly worried.

"Remember what?" His eyes were darting around, looking for the best hiding place, in case she decided to prove the aim she bragged about in song.

"What the hell is that? Sounds like some drunken idi--oh."

GOB listened to the rest of the message. "Well, your message makes more sense now."

The smile returned. "But you lied! 'Oh, GOB, I don't miss you!'" he said while doing a very poor imitation of Becky. "Next thing you know, you're at my yacht, telling me how much you want me."

"If you felt that way, you should have let me know earlier," GOB said, probably not referring to her hatred of everything. "We could have worked something out between us before."

At that point, GOB placed a card (http://pics.livejournal.com/peter__parker/pic/000048y6) face down on the desk. It was still on his side of the desk, so Becky would have to reach over to grab it.

"Are you sure? Because I'm perfectly willing to take you for what you are," GOB said, not realizing that this might not be the best time to quote lyrics to Becky.

"Whatever you say, Becky," GOB said. He started to leave, not picking up the card from the floor. She'd probably want it as a souvenir.

When he reached the door, he turned around for a moment. "By the way, the Mountie stopped by my place earlier. He was singing, too. He actually told me that if I wanted you, he wasn't getting in the way. Crazy day for songs." GOB was grinning way too broadly for his own good.

"I think you had your say earlier on. 'You were the one I chose,' and all." GOB opened up the door. "Have a good night, Becky," he said as he left.
