From out of nowhere, a water balloon mysteriously flew at Jenny.

And Jenny dropped both her coffee and her now completely-soaked book as a water balloon hit her on the shoulder and drenched her completely. "What?" Jenny looked around, confused. "Someone owes me a new book!" she yelled at the coffee shop.

"What are you looking at?" she asked the ~~totally NPC~~ barista behind the counter who was staring at her. She stood up, grabbed her laptop case, and sighed. Time to head home and pray she could get the coffee stains out of her shirt.

Lana comes in with Maia. "Pick a table, any table," she says with a smile.

Maia smiled and pointed to the back corner. "I like that one." She said quietly.

"Excellent choice," Lana says teasingly. "And for dinner? Might I recommend my personal favorite, the grilled cheese?"

Maia grinned at her "With lettuce?" She asked realizing how very hungry she actually was. It was nice to get out, since Chiana had left Maia felt like a zombie moving through motions that meant nothing to her.

"For you, lettuce *and* a tomato if you'd like," Lana says with a grin.

Maia wrinkled her nose, "No tomato just lettuce." She grinned "You can have a tomato if you want though."

Lana looks shocked. "Ruin a perfectly good grilled cheese with lettuce or tomato? Definitely not. I'm a grilled cheese purist. Except," she says thoughtfully, "on days when I like a little ham with it. But for you, lettuce definitely. Fries? Soda? Brownies?"

Maia laughed at Lana's grilled cheese purist declaration. "Fries I think." Maia smiled at her and then went to the counter to pay for everything. Lana was just the most amazing person ever, "Do you want a brownie?" Maia asked handing her credit card to the clerk.

"Definitely," Lana says. "A brownie and a glass of milk after a grilled cheese is just the perfect way to end a meal." She grins at Maia.

Maia smiled and nodded, waiting on the food and the slip to sign she headed over with Lana to the table in the corner. She laid everything out very carefully and sat quietly for a moment and then spoke. "So other then Han's marriage deal, how have you been?"

"Good, I think," Lana replies. "Yeah, pretty good overall."

She smiles to herself a little. "Much better after Shep got back from his long weekend. Though I really didn't like to realize how much I missed him when he was gone."

Maia smiled and nodded interested in chewing her sandwich for a moment. Her heartbreak stabbed at her just a little but she swallowed it down as she took a sip of milk. Chiana's face flashed up at her smiling. Maia smiled at the image. "Good, not that you missed him but good that well he's back."

"Yeah, well..." Lana shrugged. "So how are your classes going?"

Maia shrugged "I think I surprised my speech class when I declared that I didn't trust C.J. How about you?"

"Well, aside from the fact that I don't think I can ever look Professor Methos in the eye again... I think they're all going well. And I really like Professor Lyman."

Maia swallowed "What happened with Methos?" Maia said sipping down some milk.

Lana rolls her eyes and blushes furiously. "I had to go get permission from him to miss class next Tuesday so I can do the wedding thing for Sex Cultures. And I got all flustered and he asked if I needed to skip his class so I could get married and have sex in another class and... Oh, it was just..."

She shook her head with a smile. "He had entirely too much fun with it."

Maia coughed and laughed. "I bet." She smiled snatching a french fry. "We were blindfolded in speech" Maia shook her head "I am afraid of the dark so yeah, that was not a great way for C.J. to start getting me to trust her." Maia tried to laugh it off but the feeling of complete darkness made her shiver a little.

Being blindfolded in the dark... It brings back the memories of Lana's nightmares and she's not ready to think about that just now, so she works to make sure her voice is as light as it was before.

"Yeah, not my idea of a fun time either. Sorry you had to go through that."

Maia nodded and swallowed hard. "Yeah it- well thats why I have a bathroom light and you know a night light if I need it." Maia smiled. "Battery powered just in case." She laughed but she was serious.

Lana looks at her sympathetically. "Must be really tough," she says quietly.

Maia shrugged "Naw, you get used to it you know. Dark=hands grabbing for me kinda nightmarish things. Having that little light well...kinda helps keep some of it at bay at times. Though...well when Chiana was there with me, I didn't need the light, she made everything dimmer in my head it was nice."

"Yeah, I can imagine." Lana's quiet for a moment. "Does Pip make it quieter, too?"

Maia shook her head. "No not really. Phoebe does at times but not usually. Mostly Chiana did, moreso then anyone else was able to make it."

"I wonder if it's because she wasn't human," Lana says with a thoughtful expression.

Maia nodded "I think so...maybe its because she saw things to just not like I did or as much...I dunno. I just know things got quiet, got dim when she was around me. When she spoke everything in my head stopped and it was just her voice." Maia frowned looking down at her brownie. "So how are you and Shep now Shep is back." Maia said to change the conversation away from Chiana.

Lana's smile gets softer and a little dreamy. "Good. Really good. Good enough that it scares me."

Maia smiled. "Thats always good." She said encouraging Lana to continue if she wanted to.

"Scared to death is good?" Lana says with a grin, then shrugs. "I guess I wouldn't want it any other way."

"Scared to death under those circumstances, most certainly." She grinned taking a bite of her brownie.

Lana laughs. "Yeah, I guess so." She finished her grilled cheese and nibbles on her brownie.

Maia finished off her brownie and sat quietly. "This was nice thank you." She said quietly. "We should head back though, your meeting the gang at Caritas."

Lana sighed. "Yeah, I suppose you're right. I'm glad you came and had dinner with me though."

Maia nodded "Yeah me to, it was nice to get out for a while." Picking their trash off the table Maia threw it away. "Are you walking back or you staying in town?" Maia said picking up her coat.

Lana checks her watch again. "I'd probably better just head over to Caritas." She reaches over and hugs Maia. "I'll catch you later, okay?"

Maia hugged her back "Sure thing, have a great night." She smiled and pulled her coat around her tighter. "Thank you Lana."

"Any time, sweetie. Now you get some rest. And eat!" Lana hugged her again and started off in the direction of Caritas.
