All and Sundries, 2/27

Edmund has succeeded in teaching his robopet to bark at people who enter the store. He's seriously considering a trip to see Miss Clay about getting some sharper teeth put in...

He isn't wondering when the robopet made the shift from "pointless oddity" to "mine."

He is eagerly awaiting the special orders that should be arriving today. Not only for island residents, but another shipment from Wow Wee toys. Roboraptors look amusing.

All and Sundries is open.

After his conversation with Agatha, Victor walked into All and Sundries and almost dropped Bot when something started barking at him. "Huh?" he said, looking around and finally noticing the robot dog. "Hey, that's pretty cool, Edmund," he said, laughing a little at himself.

Edmund looked up when his robodog started barking and remembered the polite young man from the day when he'd been in such an inexplicably good mood.

Damn, he'd even told the boy to call him Edmund.

"Hello, Victor was it? What do you need today?" Perhaps he wasn't as cheery as the day of the chocolates, but the boy had made an unusually good first impression and Edmund was acting on that.

"Yeah, it's Victor. Agatha over at Sparky Repairs told me you might have some glitter left. Since you seem to have a little bit of everything here, I was hoping you had something scented."

"Scented glitter?" Edmund shook his head. "No, I don't have that. What sort of use do you need it for? Would adding some scented talcum powder to the glitter suffice?"

"I don't know if that'd muck up the machine or not. Do you have maybe a sort of gel or something I could rub on a canister to make it smell like an air freshener?"

Edmund thought for a moment before leaving the counter to the robopet's guardianship and heading to the aisle with air fresheners. "There are air fresheners that have gel inserts (http://www.glade.com/glade-plug-ins/). You could open the insert and spread it on the cannister, I guess."

He read the package and its warnings. "It does say not to let it contact skin, however, so I suggest using gloves if you go that route."

"I guess that could work. I guess I'll take one of those gel inserts, and some latex gloves if you have them."

Edmund pulled a three pack of disposable latex gloves off the rack and tossed them toward Victor. "Anything else, since you will now be fresh smelling? Did you want to buy some unscented glitter?"

With the demand, he'd taken to carrying large quantities of what seemed to be Fandom High's fad item.

"Oh, yeah, the glitter! Yah, I need about...this much," he said, indicating with his hands the amount. "I don't know how big the bags are, but I need a lot."

"There are bins in the art section. Just scoop as much as you require into the bags there and I will charge by weight." Edmund waved dismissively to the green boy and made his way to the front counter again.

Victor shrugged at the handwaving and went to go get his glitter. After getting a couple large bags of the shiniest, most colorful glitter there he browsed through the rest of the store, making sure to pick up some more crackers and various snacks for his room stash.

When he was finally done, he finally returned to the register and placed everything on the counter, Bot included. The robot moved its eye side to side at Victor, and the mutant blushed and picked his pet(?) back up. "Oops...sorry Bot." Then, he smiled at Edmund and said, "Thanks for your help last time. That cheese stuff was really good."

"Excellent," Edmund said out of habit as he rang up Victor's purchases. He raised an eyebrow at the bot, but he knew his inventory intimately and knew he didn't sell that. It looked more like Miss Clay's work.

After totalling everything up, he asked Victor, "Will there be anything else?"

"Nah, I think I'm cool. How's business going for you?"

Nobody except the bouncer and nude park man usually stuck around to chat. The green boy was nowhere near as annoying as either of those.

Edmund raised an eyebrow and answered in something approximating a pleasant manner, "Quite well. You students are an idiosyncratic lot, but not a poor one."

Unfortunately, the word was lost on Victor. "Idiohuh? Sorry, I'm a freshman..."

"Quirky," Edmund supplied with a suppressed sigh of disgust. Was English no one's first language anymore?

[ooc: Of course! ^_^]

"Oh, okay," he replied, too occupied with balancing Bot and his purchases to notice the sigh. "That's cool. So, I'll see you later?"

"Any time you return to the shop," Edmund said with what passed for a cheery smile when he wasn't actually under the influence of a cheering charm, thus maybe not so cheery.

Agatha used her lunch break as an opportunity to stop by the store to see if her special orders had come in.

She walked straight to the counter this time, no lookign for anything at the store.

"Hello Mr. Blackadder. Did my special order arrive?"

"Yes, Miss Clay, everything arrived. Do you need any assistance from Baldrick to get everything to your shop?"

"No thanks, i brought a helper again." She pulled the dingbot out and placed him on the floor, ready to take charge of the packages.

Smart woman.

The robopet started barking, a bit delayed, and Edmund grabbed the remote control to make it stop. "I wanted to see you about this thing anyway," he mentioned as he pulled out her invoice for the remaining 90% of her bill.

Agatha paid him and loaded the dingbot withthe laptop and hte burner boxes. She then turned her attention to the robopet.

"What is is? What can it do?"

"It is a robopet. Some sort of newfangled toy, but I think it might make a decent watch animal with a few modifications. Do you think you might be able to have a look at it?"

"I can certainly take a look at it, yes." She bent down to take a look at the thing.

[ooc: is it plastic? *grin*]

Edmund handed over the remote control and the instructions that came with it. "If you could successfully refit this to be a good watchdog, I'd consider giving you a permanent store discount in addition to your fee."

Agatha traced the unfamiliar material with her finger. "Hmm... i can take a look. Can i take it to my workshop for a while?" So many things to do, so many exciting new things to see!

"Certainly." Edmund repackaged it in its box and added it to the pile of Agatha's order. "Just call me and I will come by to pick it up at your convenience."

"Alright." Agatha added another box to the dingbot. Good thing he could carry about 200 times his own weight.

Waving at Blackadder, she walked back to her store.
