Friday - Late Afternoon

Victor set the bag of Chinese take-out on a table and smiled at Walter. "This place look good? We can see the pond from here."

[ooc: Open for all your park needs and such. Walter and Victor will pretty much just be here having a little picnic.]

"It looks perfect. A picnic was a good idea. Even if indoor picnics are fun, too."

He sat down and smiled when some of the ducks perked up slightly at the sight of people who might have food.

"I can't tell you the last time I had a vacation."

"Well, now's your chance. I think we're gonna have a lot of fun!"

He pulled out the containers and handed Walter his order before setting up his own. He'd gotten Lao Mein and Orange Chicken, and his mouth was practically begging to eat.

Walter speared a piece of Victor's orange chicken and grinned, popping it into his mouth before fishing out his beef with broccoli.

"We are. And I stopped by the clinic a bit earlier and the doctor said I'm healing well. He gave me some more medications to take along on the trip in case I need them."

"It's not some more of that woozy juice, is it? Because I don't want you to have this wonderful time and then forget about it. I won't be able to take you on another trip to make up for it if you do," he smirked.

He speared some of Walter's dinner as well and chewed it thoughtfully as his eyes glanced at the sky. Then, he looked down at his food and asked, "So did you get the email today?"

"The one about Logan?" Walter frowned, which deepened into a scowl. "Or the one about Darla?"

"Darla," Victor replied, his face also hardening. His eyes flickered everywhere, and if Walter thought about it he could probably see that Victor was trying to observe like Walter had taught him to. "What are we going to do about her?"

"We?"

Walter shook his head and ran his hand through his hair. "Well, we definitely aren't going hunting her tonight. But we can ask around, find out where she stays, what her usual haunts are and if she hasn't be dealt with by the time we get back from England, we can stop all this pissing about that's gone on."

"Yes, we. She's our problem, remember?" His face softened and he touched Walter's hand. "Look...I'm no vampire hunter like you. I know I have so many limits when it comes to this sort of stuff. But I'm not going to rush headlong into some epic battle with her. Persobnally, I'm just going to be prepared in case she attacks me again. If she hurts someone, though...I'll have to help. I won't be afraid of her ever again..." He paused, then looked into Walter's eyes and smiled encouragingly. "But I won't be stupid, either."

"If she hurts someone, we will help stop her. Permanently." He turned his hand over and squeezed Victor's. "You're no liability when it comes to fighting."

Victor's eyes widened a little at that, as did his smile. "Really? You think so?"

Walter smiled back, leaning over to give Victor a soft kiss. "I think so. I've seen you in real fighting situations more than once now and you handle yourself well."

Okay, now Victor was blushing a little. "Thanks," he replied, and played with he food a little while as he smiled and thought. Finally he said, "You know...for someone from a different time and a different place, sometimes you know just the right thing to say."

Walter leaned against Victor and smiled. "It must just be my irresistable charm." Certainly it wasn't his ego. "But I wouldn't tell you anything but the truth with something like this."

"That's good. I like the truth."

He snagged a piece of chicken with his chopsticks and offered it to Walter. "Want some of my meat?"

"Yes, I'm sure it's delicious." Walter leaned over and took the proffered chicken off the chopstick. "How did you learn how to use those sticks?"

Victor shrugged and picked up some of his noodles with the chopsticks. "Practice, I guess. Jubilee showed me once and I just kept at it until I got it. Why, you want me to teach you?"

"Yes, let's add something else to the list of things you've taught me." But Walter said it without rancor and took a pair of chopsticks to try to mimic what Victor was doing.

"Okay, a big part of the skill with using chopsticks is to remember that you only move two fingers. Here, let me show you," he said, demonstrating by touching the orangey ends of the chopsticks to each other. "See how only my pointer and middle fingers move. Your ring finger...well, this finger," he said, touching Walter's hand, "and the thumb are used for support. The pinky is just there to be there. it doesn't even touch the chopsticks at all. Okay, now you try."
