Caritas, Monday--OPEN

Jarod might be strangely quiet tonight, after the, er, rehearsal with Parker the day before. He set out the barstools, the snacks, the garnishes...but he was pretty much on autopilot.

GOB walked into Caritas and was glad to see it open tonight. "Jarod! Buddy! Pal! Where've you been? You and that brunette shack up for a couple weeks or something? I'll have a Scotch."

"Ech. Glad to see you're better now," GOB said, mainly because Jarod was handling his booze. "So, she still hasn't jumped you? Only a matter of time, my friend."

For the record, GOB still didn't actually know the brunette except for the Caritas trip to New York. He just figured that she would end up jumping him at some point.

GOB wasn't watching closely, of course. "Only a matter of time. Say, have you seen Becky at all today? Any clue if she's feeling less ready to kill?"

"Because I asked if it was okay if I started buying time with her girls again," GOB explained. "It's not my fault she was so insistent that the one night was just for fun! Anyway, I gave her a letter. Hopefully that keeps her from murdering."

"It said I was sorry," GOB said. The one line he wrote himself did, at least.

"Really, it should be marked as progress. I normally wouldn't have even asked. But she's scary and she deserves some respect after that one night. She's changed me." Out of fear, mainly.

"I not only haven't slept with anyone else since I slept with her, but I checked to see if it would be okay to do business with her employees. That's progress, my friend," GOB said. He then took a drink.

"Well, I'm not doing business with them because she didn't react well to my question. And I'm not going to try to go behind her back with it, even if that one night was just for fun."

This really was progress for GOB, as sad as that may be.

"She likes me too much to actually shoot me," GOB said as he took a sip. "She'll never admit it unless you get her drunk enough, but it's true. If it weren't, I would have been dead months ago."

"But she could miss while trying to miss me. That's part of why she gets respect."

"No, no, you've got it all wrong," GOB said. "We're not dating. It was a one night thing. Maybe more if she decides to let me live."

"At least once that I know of," GOB said. "I'm hoping I'll still be alive if it happens again, though."

"Thanks. I appreciate that," GOB said earnestly. He finished his drink and took out some money for it. "It's been good seeing you up and about again, Jarod. Have a good night. Here's hoping Becky is happy enough to miss if she shoots at me."
