"You just want an excuse to go shopping in Los Angeles," Jarod turned the pages, stopping briefly at the picture of Parker and Michael. He glanced at her. "Do you miss him at all?"

He looked around. "What's wrong with the park? Are there kite rules I don't know about?

She paused looking at the photo, surprised to only feel the barest twinge of regret. "No. I'm sorry I wasted so much time on Michael, actually. And maybe I pity him. I don't know who was pulling his strings, but I doubt Principal Bristow was any better to deal with."

Parker grinned. "Nothing wrong with the park. I'm just wondering if there's enough space without running into the duck pond."

"We won't know until we try it, and if we're wrong, we'll be wet," he grinned, standing up and reaching for the kite. "Have you done this before?"

"Years and years ago. I think I was... eight? Maybe?" Parker stood and followed him down the sidewalk to the Park. The trees were just starting to really flower, dogwood and maple and ash. "Both of my parents took me to the Washington Monument to fly a kite. There were hundreds of other kids there, I think it was a festival of some kind." She looked over the park, and said, "We really need a hill to get it going, but I think we'll do okay with what we've got."

Jarod looked at her, then the kite, then back at Parker. First lesson of kites was apparently one per person.

"Do you want to run first, or do you want me to do it, and you can take over once the work's done?'

"You hold it, I'll let out the line, and once I get it going, I'll hand it over." Parker's smile grew impish. "I swear!"

"Uh huh," Jarod said, looking a little skeptical.

"Would I steal a kite from my best friend?" Parker pouted at him, making her eyes big and sad.

He kissed her on the tip of her nose. "Absolutely."

She grinned. "Fine, you run first. Be like that. I hope the tree eats the kite." Parker took the kite and started to walk it out a few yards away from him, checking the wind. "That way!"

Jarod took the kite, not understanding the tree reference, and ran in the direction Parker had indicated, kite trailing behind him.

On the ground. He stopped and stared at it. "That doesn't seem right."

Parker slapped her hand over her eyes and giggled. "Wait until I say go, okay? The line has to be taut. Give it a minute." She walked over and picked up the kite, rolling up the line a little, then then held it over her head as he unrolled the line. "A little more-- just a little more, I think-- stop!"

The wind was starting to pick up.

He did as instructed and stood holding the line, facing her. "Now what?"

"Start running that way--" Parker pointed toward the pond. "--I'll keep up, and let it go when it starts to tug on the line!"

He took off at a run towards the pond. "You better follow me, Parker, or I'm going to feel even less suave than usual!"

Snickering, Parker followed him, hanging onto the kite until she felt the wind start to tug on it. "Almost, almost--" She let the kite go and cheered. "Yay!"

Then her clothes disappeared.

"Eeep!

Jarod watched the kite soar into the air, then promptly forgot all about it as he turned around to grin at Parker and... underwear.

He stopped abruptly, but stumbled because of his continued momentum. Jarod stared over at her, his mouth hanging open. "..."

"God. Damn. It." Parker forebore covering herself with her hands because black lace lingerie and thigh-high stockings left too many places to cover, and just put her hands over her face. "Frakking laundry machines!"

"What the..." He was already unbuttoning his shirt as he ran over. He handed it to her ~~only a little reluctantly~~. "Here, take it. Please."

Parker took it, happy to do so because it was both chilly to be out in the park in only undwear, embarassing if anyone else came by, and yay, shirtless Jarod. "The laundry machines are on strike and I haven't even been paying attention since most of my stuff is dry-clean only, but this happened to Zero during her Driver's Ed Final, and they damn well better give those back, that was Versace, and--" She hurriedly buttoned the shirt, which just hit the top of her thighs. "Fabulous. Damnit."

"The laundry machines are on strike?" He looked confused, if appreciative of the sight of Parker in his shirt and a pair of black thigh-highs. "Aren't they inanimate?"

Jarod smirked slightly, finding the humor in the situation, "Are you sure this isn't just a plot to steal another one of my shirts?"

"Yes, Jarod, I bribed the laundry machines to steal my clothes in the middle of city park with no warning while flying a kite. Agh!" Parker made a little noise of frustration then started to laugh in frustration. "If I were going to do this, it'd be while we were at your place!" She started hurrying along the sidewalk. "God, I need pants or... something. I look like a refugee from A Chorus Line."

Jarod looked down at himself. "I'm not giving you my pants, Parker. I love you, but I'm not walking through town in my underwear." He rushed to follow her, "You're covered enough until we get back to the Sin. You can borrow a pair of my sweatpants again."

He decided now probably wasn't the time to tell her that any of the girls at the Sin would lend her clothes so she could get back to school.

"If Becky jokes about me applying for a job there, I'm walking back out like this," Parker threatened. "Seriously. And brrr. And, damn." She grinned weakly. "I'm not always trying to get you out of your pants, Jarod. Just your shirts."

"Come on," he said, reaching for her hand. "Let's get you dressed. Or not dressed, but not quite so public." He grinned at her.

Her smile widened. "Okay. Maybe I had that in mind when I wore this underwear... and it would be a shame to waste the opportunity."

Jarod flushed, and walked faster. They were at the door of the Sin within minutes. He held it open for her so she could make a run for the stairs. "Go ahead, my room's unlocked."

Parker took them two at a time, then rushed for the door, laughing under her breath. "Right." And the shirt ended up on the floor as soon as the door was closed. "See? I gave it back!"

"So I see." Laughing, Jarod closed the door behind him. "You know we left the kite outside."

"True. Some tree is getting a good meal out of it." She paced toward him, hands on her hips. "You want to go back and get it?"

He took a few steps forward, barely blinking, "No."

"Good to know. I did wonder, with the ice cream, and the kite, if you still thought I was four." She invaded his space, smirking a little, hands still on her hips, not touching him, just a fraction of an inch from his bared chest. "So. How long before you have to go to work?"

"Four?" He looked her up, then down, smiling, "Not even close." Jarod inhaled so his chest almost touched hers. "A few hours."

"Yay!" Parker might have sounded about four for that second, but pushing Jarod against the wall and pressing her mouth to his like a starving tiger probably ruined whatever childish impression anyone could briefly get.

Jarod might have noticed that Parker sounded four for that second, and it might have thrown him, if he hadn't been trapped against the wall and lost all capacity for thought.

He slid his hands down her bare ribcage, resting them on her waist as he kissed her back.

Breaking away for a second, she got her breath back, then licked a kiss up his jawline, saying huskily, "This does not mean I've changed my mind about this place. Or having sex here. It just means it's been two weeks and it'll take more than being in a brothel to make me stop now." And she slammed her mouth back down on his, purring into something gentler as her knees started to melt. "Mmmmmm...."

"I wouldn't have expected you to change your mind," Jarod hoisted Parker up and made their way, rather ungracefully, towards the bed. He kissed her. "You're just too damn stubborn."

"Not stubborn. Just focused. You're gonna owe me for the location location... later." Parker sank back on the bed, wriggling as she pulled him down with her, smiling wickedly. "Now. Let's see about some grown-up fun, hmmm?"

All further conversation was tabled in favor of indoor sports that did not require uniforms or equipment.
