Caritas, Wednesday Evening

Jarod closed his umbrella as he walked into Caritas, leaving it by the door. Then there were the butterflies, which, although pretty, had gotten kind of stuck to the umbrella via the pudding that had been falling from the sky, a heretofore unheard of meteorological phenomenon. He spent the next ten minutes gently loosening the butterflies from the umbrella.

Once that was taken care of and in the interest of finding out anything about what was going on, he was reading a few back newspapers that had been left at the Sin by its patrons. While finding that there was a complete lack of information on an incoming lumpy pudding and butterfly front that was due to stall over the Alexandria area, he was drawn in by the story of a nine-year-old soccer player on the mainland.

Jarod sighed, and waited for the patrons. He was beginning to think he had somewhere else to be.

Only mostly covered with falling fig pudding, Peter and Willow entered Caritas.

"May I take your coat?" Peter asked her as they began to shake the pudding off.

"Please," Willow said. She'd been grateful for the hood as it meant only a little bit of pudding had gotten on the ends of her hair. She looked around for a napkin to help with that.

Peter took her coat and his and *handwavily* hung them up. "Never shall I think of the line 'now bring us some figgy pudding' the same way again," he said, shaking his head. "Not that that's proper figgy pudding."

"Proper figgy pudding has something in it, right?" Willow asked. "Besides the pudding and figs?"

"No, it's figs and plums and sultanas and such wrapped up in pastry. My mum made it with custard as well," Peter said. "It's really good." He considered. "I'm glad fig puddings weren't falling from the sky. They'd hurt."

"Do you miss your mom?" Willow asked, curious.

Peter shrugged. "A bit, I suppose. I've not thought about her for a long time. After we went to Narnia, Britain rather faded into the distance."

"I can see how you might've been busy," Willow said. "My mom and I hardly ever saw each other when we were in the same house, so going away to school isn't much of a change."

"Even before, I went to boarding school when I was eight so I was used to her not being there. But if you lived at home, that seems so strange," Peter said. "How could you not?"

"She was usually busy with work," Willow said. "Lots of going to conferences and stuff. Then when she was there she wasn't really there, you know? Very big into I statements but not enough into hearing what the other person is saying."

Peter considered this. "That doesn't sound very nice. Must have been odd between that and not having any siblings to spend time with."

"I had Xander," Willow said. "His house was crazy but it had people in it. Plus I could watch Charlie Brown Christmas over there."

"Which, I take it, is a good thing?"

"Xander did the Snoopy dance," Willow said with a grin.

"I'll take your word for it?" Peter replied, completely confused.

She patted his hand. "I have so much to teach you."

"I look forward to it," Peter replied with a grin. "Would you like something to drink and we can move this thread down to where it was supposed to be?"

"Something fruity with umbrellas and respectfully pretending the word 'virgin' isn't a part of the title even if it's part of the recipe?" Willow asked.

Peter laughed and repeated the request to Tino.

He returned with something bright pink that fit Willow's description. And a Coke for Peter because he couldn't get over the fact that he could have some whenever he liked here.

Willow grinned when she saw it. "Did you pick the color?"

"I wish I could say I did," Peter replied. "But that was all the bartender. I did ask for the umbrella."
