The zombies were somewhat falling apart. The bar wasn't stocked. And for some reason, GOB couldn't find his shirt. Don't ask.

Tino finally walked in, done with his Book Fair duties, and GOB stared him down. "Where were you? What, were you working the day shift at another karaoke bar? Do you know how many people you hurt with this? Our guitarist has no fingers. He's crying, Tino. Look at him. He's crying. Our drummer's spleen fell out. You let that happen. And, dear God, I wannt a drink really bad. Get it together, Tino!"

"It's clear you have a problem. Look, whatever it is you're on, pot, LSD, Oxy, tropical frogs... Whatever. You have to stop it. Not just for yourself, but for everyone who has to put up with you. Help yourself. Help your coworkers. But most of all, help me. You're keeping me from drinking. Stop it. Get off the dope, Tino."

It was almost word for word the same speech he gave to Jamie Madrox the other day. GOB wasn't one to waste a good speech.

Caritas was open.

Kaylee frowned. "What happened to 'em?"

"I've been walking around since yesterday morning with nothing to protect them," Joxer said. "My boots were stolen."

"Oh no! Do you know who stole them?" Kaylee asked.

"Yeah," Joxer said. "Callisto. She made a habit of making us give up our boots and shoes for Wilderness Survival. This week, she didn't give them back."

Kaylee was appalled. "That's not very nice at all. Is she gonna give 'em back?"

"When I complained, she gave me detention," Joxer said with a sigh. "Though that might have been because I said I'd try to take my boots back by force."

"But they're your boots," Kaylee said, clearly not understanding Callisto's logic.

"That's what I thought," Joxer said. He frowned some more. "But she's an instructor, so she gets to make the rule."

Kaylee just shook her head. "Well, you'll probably need new ones. I could help you with that if you want?"

"I'm broke," Joxer said. "And it's not like there's any villages that will hire a shoeless warrior."

"I'm sure there are places in town that would hire ya," Kaylee said, trying to be reassuring. She pondered stealing them back from Callisto. Clearly, Kaylee had never met her before.

Joxer slid over in his seat. "Would you like to sit down? Here I am, grumbling at you, and I didn't even have the courtesy to think of that until now."

Kaylee sat down and gave him a reassuring smile. "Don't worry 'bout it. You have a lot on your mind."

"Yeah, so much I didn't even think about coming up with something for a second date for us," Joxer said. "Which I really ought to do."

"That's okay. I like just sittin' here talking," Kaylee said.

"You do?" Joxer bit his lower lip. "We should get together and talk more often."

"I completely agree."

Joxer's eyes bugged. "Really?"

"Why wouldn't I?"

"Guess I'm just used to people only wanting me around to pick on me," Joxer said. "But I guess this just makes you continue to be one of the specialest people I know."

Kaylee smiled happily.

Joxer fidgeted and twiddled his thumbs for a moment.

"Can I ask you something?"
