Empire Records and Bidet [6/11]

Nadia got to work and opened Empire rather late.

She didn't bother putting on any music, just put her head down on the sales counter and fell asleep.

[ooc: have to run in a minute to go sell flowers. playing out something quick right now; if you have a burning need for Empire-ness, you can mod Gina.]

Concerned by the lack of music from downstairs, Lucas wandered down to check on Nadia, accompanied by Gina, who was in town for a quick weekend visit (and to tease him about his relationship with Elle).

He shook Nadia's shoulder to wake her up. "You okay?"

Lucas gave Gina a look of "see what I have to put up with?" and with no preamble, put a hand on Nadia's head.

She was a bit warm.

"You're sick, Nadia, go home."

"No you're not. You have a fever. Go home before you get my customers sick." Lucas crossed his arms. "You'll get sick pay, don't worry about that."

"I can cover it," Gina offered.

Lucas nodded. "See? Everything will be fine, here. Go. Home."

Walter stopped in sometime in the late afternoon with two thermoses, one with coffee and the other with chicken soup only to find that Nadia wasn't there. He spoke to the girl in the short skirt and tight top and found out that Nadia had been sent home sick.

Conner had wandered into Empire Records for no particular reason today other than to see what the pop music landscape was like these days. Not so much because he would want to know as that Kira might want to know. Then again, he wasn't entirely sure he could tell her, given that she was having such a hard time breaking into the business herself. He'd noticed all her emails and letters from New York were pretty vague on the details of her music career, and he was pretty sure he knew why.

Idly he flipped through the CD racks, browsing just for the sake of it. "Okay, that's new . . . that's new . . . dude, she's still around? Why? New . . . not so new . . . heard of that one -- whoa."

He'd seen Kira's face on the cover of an album, and sure enough the text read Kira Ford: Just Words.

The sticker on the plastic wrapper said, "The followup to California native Kira Ford's smash hit self-titled debut! Tracks include Just Words, Freak You Out, and Patiently."

It was one of those 'do you even have to ask' situations: Conner grabbed the album and headed straight to the counter. It was just a shame, he thought as Gina rang him up, that he couldn't actually write and tell Kira all about it.
