Caritas - Open [6/17]

Veronica was greeted by a long, rousing sax solo when she arrived at Caritas to cover for Weevil on Saturday night. It amused her, but Tino started grumbling about being sick of the sax and how he couldn't believe GOB gave in to the demands of some freakin' zombies. She ignored him as she got things ready and opened the bar.

Archie didn't usually go to Caritas on Saturdays, but then Veronica didn't usually work on Saturdays. He would have been remiss in his duties if he didn't come in and see her, though, and especially if he didn't walk her home.

He came in, headphones over his ears (which looked just a little bit odd with his hair) and the RENT CD she'd made him playing.

"The heart may freeze, or it can burn," he sang along as he walked in. He didn't realize that with the headphones on he was a little louder than he knew.

Veronica watched Archie, amused. She was glad he seemed to like the music she'd given him.

"There's only us, there's only this," Archie kept singing as he sat down at the bar. "Hello, Veronica!"

Yes, he was shouting. No, he didn't realize it.

Figuring he wouldn't hear her over his headphones, Veronica simply waved.

Archie was wondering why Veronica wasn't saying anything, so he stopped the music and pulled off the headphones. To his surprise, his ears were ringing a bit.

"Why does it sound as though I've just been drilling a gunnery crew?"

"Probably because you had your headphones up kind of loud," Veronica said. "I take it you're enjoying the CDs I made you."

"Very much so," Archie told her as he shook his head a bit to clear out the ringing. "I had to look up some of the lyrics, but I'm enjoying them quite a bit."

"Good, I'm glad," Veronica said, leaning over for a kiss. "I'll have to make you some more."

Archie cupped Veronica's face in his hands as he kissed her, and pulled back with a wink. "We had fun the last time you made me CDs, didn't we?"

"Yes, we did," Veronica agreed. "Of course, I didn't get you very many CDs made."

"That might have been too much of a good thing all at once," Archie deadpanned.

Veronica laughed. "A very good point. What can I get you to drink tonight?"

Archie grinned. "This boy could use some Stoli."

No, he hadn't been listening to those CDs over and over again.

Veronica shook her head, but continued laughing as she poured his drink.

"Did you end up stopping by the game this afternoon at all?"

Archie shook his head. "No, I can't say I did ~~because it was brainbreaky enough~~. Did you?"

"Uh, no, I was... doing some reading," Veronica said uneasily.

Archie raised an eyebrow. "More of what you were reading the other night?"

"Um, sort of?" Veronica said. "I... kind of found Tyler's journal."

Archie nodded, but didn't press the matter too much, given their location. "You're uneasy about telling me this," he observed quietly. "You don't have to be."

There was no one else in the bar, so Veronica took a deep breath. "This afternoon, while everyone was at the game, I broke into Tyler's room and searched it."

Archie regarded her steadily. "Did you find anything useful?"
