Imperial Junkyard, Sunday afternoon

Walter picked his way through the junkyard to the area he'd been directed to the last time he'd gone there. There seemed to be an endless supply of things to cut apart, and he had plenty of thinking to do while he did it.

[ooc: Open like a town thing is open. Here (a bit early) for Tyler in particular.]

Tyler arrived a little after noon. "Walter," he called out. "Ready to impress me?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can be hard to surprise," Tyler said.

He walked over to where Walter was standing, looking at thwe assortment of refuse. "Are we looking for anything in particular?"

"Nice," Tyler said, with a feral grin. "What about something like that?"

He gestured to a car door leaning against a stone.

"I might be impressed," Tyler said, with just the hint of a smile. "So the next question is, where do you get something like that?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"So, not exactly something I can order from IKEA," Tyler said. It seemed to be a sore point, so he did not point out that in this place, there were probably 17 people who could arrange it.

He inclined his head slightly toward Walter's hand. "How long have you been working with those?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyler's eyes ran over the scars. "No wonder, if they gave them to you when you were a kid," he said. "And sometimes the things worth knowing are gonna hurt you."

He put his hand in his pocket, not wanting Walter to notice the lip-print scar.

"Probably," Tyler agreed.

"What would count as really impressive?," he asked, letting a hint of Walter's accent creep into his voice. "Taking down a building? There are easier ways to do that."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Explosives," Tyler said, taking a seat on a tree stump. "I know I scerewed up when I tried them here, but they're easy to make at home, no risk to yourself if you do it right, pretty much a win-win. You just need to make sure you have a good recipe to work from. No paraffin."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Germans have no chaos in their natures," Tyler said firmly. "Can't help it, national trait. Being good with explosions requires a little chaos."

He ran a hand through his hair. "Either that, or the chemicals weren't as advanced then."

Tyler tilted his head at Walter. "Keep a secret?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Tyler hesitated just a second before deciding he could trust Walter.

"Nothing big on the island," he said. "Some corporate art in Wilmington. And there was an explosion at my aunt's condo about a year ago. Everything we owned got destroyed." He smirked. "It was very upsetting, of course. Accident with the pilot light."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've thought about that," Tyler said. "I'm not sure I'd be so good at taking orders, though. Maybe if I joined as an officer."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I might," Tyler said. "From what he told me, it sounds like it's a family business for him."

"I used to think I was going to go into insurance," Tyler chuckled. "But yeah, I have a couple years to figure it out. What about you? Do you have plans?"

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Insurance is a living too," Tyler said. "But, yeah, I've kind of rethought that plan. Sounds like you're pretty happy with yours."

"It's kind of an unusual set of talents. Make tea in the morning, chop off sa vampire's head at night if you have to?" Tyler shook his head. "Almost like being two people."

[identity profile] tyler-gone.livejournal.com 2006-06-18 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"At least you found a balance," Tyler said. "That's always the challenge."

He rubbed his head and stood, looking for something else to test the wires on. "What could you do to that engine block?"

[OOC: Going to dinner, want to wrap or SP?]

John was poking around, trying to find more parts for his... project. Creation. Obsession. Hobby. Whatever.

Hrm.... a leafblower, lawnmower engine, and a small rusted wheelbarrow caught his eye...
