Luke's Diner [5 PM FHT]

Rory had done good work, as usual, and the diner was decorate with blue streamers and balloons.

But no glitter. That's what Jaye was for.

"Hi, Rory's Mom." Parker's smile is cheeky. "I don't think I've seen you since I was four."

"How's your bunny, Maureen?" Lorelai asks with a grin.

"Amazingly, still alive. I didn't manage to force-feed her to death that weekend." She grinned back. "And just think of all you have to look forward to again! Rory's brother, reading by the time he's two!"

"You think it will take Rory two whole years to teach her brother to read?" Lorelai said skeptically.

Parker snickered. "No, but he's a boy. It may be two years before he admits it, and loses out on people reading to him. Unless, of course, he starts drinking coffee that early. Then he'll never sit still for it."

"No coffee until kindergarten," Lorelai said seriously. "And good point on the losing out on people reading to him thing. Though I'm pretty sure his big sister will have that one covered, too."

Parker snickered, spluttered, and barely escaped choking on her drink. "I look forward to hearing about that in five years. And yeah, I can't see Rory *not* calling at bedtime from college, just to read to him." She smiled. "Congratulations, a lot. I'm very happy for you and Luke."

"Thanks," Lorelai grinned. "We're excited. Well, honestly? I think Luke's starting to freak out a little. But he tries to hide it."

"Well, it is his first. Rory was already almost adult, so... This ought to be entertaining to watch."

"I think I need to buy a video camera," Lorelai said. "Because I bet I can totally win any of those funny home video contests the first time he changes a dirty diaper."

Parker chortled. "No bet. I just want to see a copy before it hits the television screen." She cocked her head. "Is there anything I can get you? I would be making people wait on me hand and foot, if I were you."

"I'd kill for a cup of coffee," Lorelai said. "But I still have to be careful."

"I'll be sure to lay in a supply for right after your son is born. Until then, I can grab you a chai tea, I guess?"

"Actually, with this humidity, I think maybe just some water would be good, if you don't mind," Lorelai said.

"No problem. I'll be right back."

Parker wove through the party, grabbed a bottle of water, and came back with it in record time. "Here. Just flash me a high sign if you need anything else. I still owe you for various silly costumes that Rover and Cameron have worn."

Lorelai took a drink of the water and gave Parker a grateful smile. "Thanks. And those were fun to make, so you don't owe me anything."

"You're welcome. And I'm glad. Did you see the photos? They're in Rory's yearbook, if you want copies, I can send them to you."

"No, I haven't seen them. Sending me copies would be great!"
