Caritas, Wednesday Night
The zombie band was nowhere to be found when Jarod arrived. He looked around, but couldn't locate them, even after trying to "pretend" to be a zombie, which was a much creepier experience than he'd been anticipating.
He eventually set up the karaoke machine and left some fresh calves' brains by the back door to draw the band back.
Once that was completed, he began looking through the want ads for an affordable room. This was complicated by Fandom's lack of regular newspaper service.

The Band
Re: The Band
"I . . . would like to give you alllllll some inshtructions. No. Directions. To the Llama School."
Yeah, I think.. I think you take, uh, Las Palmas
Take Las Palmas to Colorado
Take Colorado down to Pico
And that's how you GET TO LLAMA SCHOOL!
She clapped quickly four times.
You go to Pico,
You take Pico to Colorado
Take Colorado to Las Palmas
And that's how you GET TO LLAMA SCHOOL!
*clapclapclapclap*
Pico!
Take that to...
Colorado
Then go down to...
Kopico?
And that's how you GET TO LLAMA SCHOOL!
*clapclapclapclap*
Now you say Pico
And take your little llamas
Colorado, Colorado!
Las Palmas... GET TO LLAMA SCHOOL!
"EVERYBODY SING NOW!"
Get to LLAMA SCHOOL!
*clapclapclap--* she missed the last clap.
You got to go to LLAMA SCHOOL!
Then she bowed.

This doesn't mean that he's learned yet that there are some songs he really has no business singing. Even if they do seem like a good idea at the time.
Caught a lite sneeze caught a lite breeze
Caught a lightweight lightingseed
Boys on my left side
Boys on my right side
Boys in the middle
And you're not here
I need a big loan
From the girl zone
Building
tumbling down
Didn't know our love was so small
Coun't stand at all
Mr. St. John just bring your son
The spire is hot
And my cells can't feed
And you still got that Belle dragging your foots
I'm hiding it well Sister Ernestine
But I still got that Belle
Dragging my foots
Building
tumbling down
Didn't know our love was so small
Coun't stand at all
Mr. St. John just bring your son
Right on time you get closer
And closer
Called my name but there's no way in
Use that fame
Rent you wife and kids today
Maybe she will
Maybe she will caught a lite sneeze
Dreamed a little dream
Made my own pretty hate machine
Boys on my left side
Boys on my right side
Boys in the middle and you're not here
Boys in their dresses
And you're not here
I need a big loan from the girl zone
Building
tumbling down
Didn't know our love was so small
Coun't stand at all
Mr. St. John just bring your son
And he hadn't even been drinking yet. Except for a smoothie.

Re: The Band
I do it for the joy it brings
because I'm a joyful girl
because the world owes me nothing
and we owe each other the world
I do it because it's the least I can do
I do it because I learned it from you
I do it just because I want to
because I want to
everything I do is judged
and they mostly get it wrong
but oh well
'cuz the bathroom mirror has not budged
and the woman who lives there can tell
the truth from the stuff that they say
and she looks me in the eye
and says would you prefer the easy way?
no, well o.k. then
don't cry
and I wonder if everything I do
I do instead
of something I want to do more
the question fills my head
I know that there's no grand plan here
this is just the way it goes
and when everything else seems unclear
I guess at least I know
I do it for the joy it brings
because I'm a joyful girl
because the world owes me nothing
and we owe each other the world
I do it because it's the least I can do
I do it because I learned it from you
I do it just because I want to
because I want to
Re: The Band
Re: The Band
slightly edited version of the songgoes out to... well, I should hope he knows who he is," he says, and then starts singing:So you hold me up to the light
To see if I shine through or if I turn the day to night
Then you take my hand in the dark
You say it's cold now, babe, but all it takes is just one spark
Where we are shook somehow
If we are tired
This has the look right now
Of something awful dire
But don't give way, be strong you say
It's just the price you pay, for the better days
So you linger by the door
stare past me at the wall, wait to see if a shadow forms
And if it somehow don't look right
You say we'll reach the dawn, but first we gotta brave the night
Where we are shook somehow
If we are tired
This has the look right now
Of something awful dire
But don't give way, be strong you say
It's just the price you pay, for the better days
And all the time together, well I don't regret day one
Let's live it all again, from last kiss to first introduction
But don't give way, be strong you say
It's just the price you pay
Come what may, be strong you say
It'll be okay, come the better days
Re: The Band
Ladies up in here tonight
No fighting, no fighting
We got the refugees up in here
No fighting, no fighting
Shakira, Shakira
I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man want to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
Shakira, Shakira
Oh baby when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body
And I'm on tonight
You know my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection
Hey Girl, I can see your body moving
And it's driving me crazy
And I didn't have the slightest idea
Until I saw you dancing
And when you walk up on the dance floor
Nobody cannot ignore the way you move
your body, girl
And everything so unexpected - the way
you right and left it
So you can keep on taking it
I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man want to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
Shakira, Shakira
Oh baby when you talk like that
You make a woman go mad
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body
And I'm on tonight
You know my hips don't lie
And I am starting to feel you boy
Come on let's go, real slow
Don't you see baby asi es perfecto
Oh I know I am on tonight my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
All the attraction, the tension
Don't you see baby, this is perfection
Shakira, Shakira
Oh boy, I can see your body moving
Half animal, half man
I don't, don't really know what I'm doing
But you see to have a plan
My will and self restraint
Have come to fail now, fail now
See, I am doing what I can, but I can't so
you know
That's a bit too hard to explain
Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de dia
Baila en la calle de noche
Baila en la calle de dia
I never really knew that she could dance like this
She makes a man want to speak Spanish
Como se llama, bonita, mi casa, su casa
Shakira, Shakira
Oh baby when you talk like that
You know you got me hypnotized
So be wise and keep on
Reading the signs of my body
Senorita, feel the conga, let me see you
move like you come from Colombia
Mira en Barranquilla se baila asi, say it!
Mira en Barranquilla se baila asi
Yeah
She's so sexy every man's fantasy
a refugee like me back with the Fugees
from a 3rd world country
I go back like when 'pac carried crates for
Humpty Humpty
I need a whole club dizzy
Why the CIA wanna watch us?
Colombians and Haitians
I ain't guilty, it's a musical transaction
No more we do snatch ropes
Refugees run the seas 'cause we own our
own boats
I'm on tonight, my hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel you boy
Come on let's go, real slow
Baby, like this is perfecto
Oh, you know I'm on tonight and my
hips don't lie
And I'm starting to feel it's right
The attraction, the tension
Baby, like this is perfection
No fighting
No fighting
Re: The Band
"So this one, uh, heh." Snicker fit. "This one goes out to my twin brother Eric McKnight."
Have you heard about the big strong man?
He lived in a caravan
Have you heard about the Jeffrey Johnson fight
Oh lord what a hell of a fight
You can take all the heavyweights you got (Cause you got!)
You got a lad that can beat the whole lot (Whole lot!)
He use to play all the bells in the belfry,
Now he's going to fight Jack Dempsey.
Thats my brother Sylvest' (What's he got?)
He's got a row of forty medals on his chest (Big chest!)
He killed fifty capmen in the West,
He knows no rest, kind of the man, hellfire
Don't push, don't shove, plenty of room for you and me
He's got an arm like a leg,
And a fist that would sink a battle ship (Big ship!)
Takes all the Army and the Navy
To put the wind up Sylvest'
He thought he'd take a trip to Italy
He thought that he'd go by sea,
He dived off the harbor at New York
And he swam like a man from cork
He saw the Lusitania in distress (What did he do?)
Put the big ship Lusitania on his chest (Big chest!)
He drank all the water in the sea
And he walked all the way to Italy.
Thats my brother Sylvest' (What's he got?)
He's got a row of forty medals on his chest (Big chest!)
He killed fifty capmen in the West,
He knows no rest, kind of the man, hellfire
Don't push, don't shove, plenty of room for you and me
He's got an arm like a leg,
And a fist that would sink a battle ship (Big ship!)
Takes all the Army and the Navy
To put the wind up Sylvest'
He thought he'd take a trip to old Japan.
They brought out the whole brass band.
He played every instrument they got
what a lad he played the whole lot.
The old church bell will ring (will ring)
The old Church choir did sing. (will sing)
They all turned out to wish him best
My big brother, Sylvest.
Thats my brother Sylvest' (What's he got?)
He's got a row of forty medals on his chest (Big chest!)
He killed fifty capmen in the West,
He knows no rest, kind of the man, hellfire
Don't push, don't shove, plenty of room for you and me
He's got an arm like a leg,
And a fist that would sink a battle ship (Big ship!)
Takes all the Army and the Navy
To put the wind up Sylvest'
Yeah, thats my brother Sylvest'
He's got a row of fourty medals on his chest (Big chest!)
He killed fifty capmen in the West,
He knows no rest, kind of the man, hellfire
Don't push, don't shove, plenty of room for you and me
By the time he got to the last verse, he was pretty much incoherent with snickering. Irony? Yeah, we'll show you irony, Alanis.
Re: The Band
It's not that easy being green
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold
Or something much more colorful like that
It's not easy being green
It seems you blend in with so many other ordinary things
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
Not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
Or stars in the sky
But green's the color of Spring
And green can be cool and friendly-like
And green can be big like an ocean, or important
Like a mountain, or tall like a tree
When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful
And I think it's what I want to be

Re: The Band
Is this the way that you like it?
Is this what you had in mind when you called above to the angels for the six hundred and sixty sixth time?
Hey, what about this? What about this. Shake it.
What do you want and how do you like it? How many times is this the right socket?
What do I wear and what do I say? Please tell me again how we get there.
Please tell me again how we get there.
So many ways to get a lift. So many ways to get your head unzipped.
Too late for anymore questions. The preamble is done. The overture's ended.
The drawbridge is up. Cat's out of the bag and looking for a sofa to scratch.
Looking for a sofa to scratch.
This the way that you like it.
This what you had in mind when you called above to the angels for the six hundred and sixty sixth time.
Hey, what about this? What about this. What about this. Shake it.

Well, so did everyone else, but, still. Walter.
Re: The Band
Re: The Band
"So this next song? It sounds pretty out there, but . . . well, where some of us come from, you'd be surprised how much of a true story it can be."
And he cued up the karaoke machine to the Arrogant Worms' "Tokyo Love Song."
I had a love that was so bright
I used to dream of her each night
And rush to her side every morning (whoooo!)
I had her all to myself
We never noticed anyone else
We didn't even hear the radio warning
Our love was no joke, you know
It was the talk of downtown Tokyo
Conner paused. "Or Reefside!"
