All and Sundries, 7/13

The best thing to be said for the day, in Edmund's opinion, was that it wasn't a Friday, the 13th - Thursday the 13th being moderately less abysmal

Coffee and pastry probably not the best thing to soothe pre-workshop jitters. Blackadder, on the other hand, usually was. She just hoped he wouldn't mind her appearance with the two cups and paper bag bearing the familiar logo of JGoB.

Edmund perked up from his scowling and smiled at Ivanova. "Good morning." He nodded toward the coffee and bag. "It's almost as though you never left."

Ivanova held out a coffee with suitable decorum. The one in her hand was her second of the day. But he didn't need to know that.

"Couldn't find anyone else to bring coffee and croissants in the morning, then?"

Edmund took the cup and had a sip. "Couldn't find a poison taster other than Baldrick, and his system is so inured, I believe he can gargle cyanide."

Ivanova chuckled. "Ah. So you don't trust anyone else to bring you coffee. I feel honoured."

"My dear, if you wished to kill me, I would expect you to take a much more direct approach. As such, yes, I trust you to bring me untainted coffee and pastries."

He smiled and toasted her with his coffee. "Have you had your inaugural class session yet?"

"You know me well." She took a long, steadying sip of her coffee, not even noticing when she burned her tongue a little. "Not yet. It's today, actually. Soon."

"Children? Some of them are almost as old as I am," Ivanova chuckled. "Er, currently, that is. But your confidence in me is greatly appreciated." She didn't add the 'if misplaced' that she was thinking.
