Selkie Cove, Tuesday Night

Bel shimmered to Selkie Cove, searching for his girlfriend-turned-fish. The waxing moon gave him enough light to see the shoreline and the water lapping at the rocks.

"Phoebe!" he called out toward the waves.

Phoebe frowned when she heard someone calling her as she was having a good time in the ocean. However, she supposed that if someone were calling her, she should come up and see what was going on.

She dropped the shell she had been examining and surged up out of the water.

"Hello."

Bel stared at her, still not believing what he was seeing with his own eyes now. "Phoebe...you're a mermaid."

Phoebe beamed at him as she moved in and out of the waves. "Uh huh."

Cole shook his head. "What did you do, Phoebe?"

Phoebe thought for a second and then her face lit up in rememberance.

"A spell."

"What was the spell? You have to tell me what you said," Cole said.

"Uhmm... you'll be maaaaaaad," she sing-songed.

He moved as close as he could to the edge of the water. "Just tell me, sweetheart. Please?"

Phoebe had the urge to splash water at him with her tail as she tried to remember what she had said that afternoon that had placed her in the sea.

"Uhmm...

Open Cole's mind to me
Reveal the secrets he hides from me
Bring forth the truth of his mind,

She nodded. "I think."

Cole facepalmed.

He crouched down. "Phoebe, you have to reverse the spell. Make up a new one to change you back."

Phoebe looked at him and there might have been a pout there, too.

"I can't read your thoughts," she said petulantly. It didn't work."

"It didn't work because it was personal gain," Cole said patiently. "So it turned you into something that doesn't feel. You have to change yourself back before it is too late."

Phoebe was insulted about the not feeling comment.

"Let me think."

She thought about it for a fewn moments.

"What I did in haste let be undone
Shield the thoughts again of one
Give my legs back to me
Take me back out of the sea"

Her tail splashed water up.

Shit. Why didn't it work? Oh yeah...because Phoebe wasn't a witch anymore. She was a fish.

"Your sister is going to have to say the spell, okay?" he told Phoebe. "Let me take you home."

Phoebe moved through the waves out of his reach.

"Maybe tomorrow, I like it here."

"You'll like the bathtub, too, I promise," Cole said.

Phoebe shook her head. "No I won't." She swam a little further out. "The ocean has no secrets."

She flipped her tail. "I'll talk to you later, Cole."

Phoebe dove into the waves.
