Jamie opens up Empire and puts on the best of Trini Lopez on the store stereo system.

Unfortunately now he has the lyrics to "Lemon Tree" stuck in his head and it won't go away.

Molly walked in, raised an eyebrow at the music and waved at Jamie with a grin. "Hi, Jamie."

Jamie looked up from his ever present copy of the encyclopedia and smiled back. "Hey Molly. How's operation 'slinkity' going?"

"Still going last I saw," she said. "Thanks for helping this morning."

"Always willing to perpetuate some good old fashioned hijinx," Jamie replied. "How long will those things last anyway. They were kind of cute slinking around like that."

"Fred wasn't sure," Molly said. "Anywhere from a few hours to a day." She grinned again. "You should see the test Slinky. It has a permanent charm and it is so cute."

"That's the Weasley place right?" Jamie said looking thoughtful. "The one filled with pranks? I might have to check that place out. Not that I have any pranks or anything in mind."

Jamie's facial expression is anything but innocent on his last statement.

Molly snickered. "Of course not."

"So what brings you to Empire records?" Jamie asked. "Can I interest you in the best of Trini Lopez? His rendition of 'Lemon Tree' is guaranteed to make your ears bleed the fifteenth time you've heard it."

"No ear bleeding, thanks," Molly said with a smirk. "I'm here to look for a back up birthday present for someone. In case my first idea doesn't work."

River couldn't get the dancing club idea that Pippi had come up with out of her head. Of course, it was a brilliant idea. And perhaps they needed some variety of music, and it had been quite a while since she'd been to the Empire Records.

If Nadia was there she'd turn and leave.

She peeked inside, saw Jamie and her face lit up. "Hello, I'm looking for some music for dancing. Pippi and I are starting a dancing club."

Jamie looked up and smiled. "Hey River. Any particular kind of music your club is going to dance to?"

"It's sopposed to be formal dancing," River said. "Two by two. Fancy clothes. Don't know what music for that sounds like here."

"Well that narrows it down a little. Is there a specific type of dancing you talked about? The Waltz? Folk? Swing?"

River shrugged happily. "Don't know yet. We'll see. Can you play something so I can hear it?"

"This might not be appropriate for formal wear but if you're looking for some energetic dancing and fun this might be good."

River listened to the music, not quite being able to stand still. "Show me how you dance to this," she said, extending a hand to Jamie.

Jamie took River's hand hesitantly and tried to show her a standard swing type dance. "Um. I'm not really sure how it works. I think it's like this."

Sister Rosette had finally gotten arond to exploring the town a little. She'd entered the record store, and she got something a lot different than what she expected. "Boy, records sure have changed a lot in eighty years..."

"What's a record?" Jamie said looking confused.

Rosette raised an eyebrow at the question. She looked toward the CDs. "You mean...these aren't records? Records, you know, flat, round things" She gestured with her hands. "Put 'em in a phonograph, they play music." She hoped the boy knew what music was, too. Sheesh.

"No these are all Compact Discs. We don't sell records here. If you want a CD player that would play everything here we do have a couple of cheap ones we could sell you."

"Compact Discs, huh? CD players?" Rosette let out a long whistle. "Geez, I got a lotta catching up to do on technology." She considered the offer, the money in her pocket. It would be nice to have something new, especially if it was so shiny and played music. An eyebrow arched shrewdly. "How cheap?"

"Twenty five dollars."

Rosette's jaw dropped. "WHAT? That's highway robber--" She cut off quickly, remembering what Father Remington had told her about a thing called 'inflation' and how much money she actually did have for the month. And how twenty five was actually a small chunk of it. Prices were more expensive, but she had more cash than she'd ever have in her life, and that was just her monthly salary. Still. She wanted to haggle a bit.

"I'll take one for twenty. No more. Especially since, I assume I'll also have to buy one or more of these 'Compact Discs' to actually use the CD player, right? And how much more are those gonna cost me?"

Jamie just gave the nun a weird look. "This isn't a flea market. It's a record store and we don't haggle. Plus as you might be able to tell we're not doing a stiff amount of business and that CD player is marked down as low as it can go. Oh and the average CD costs 15-20 dollars."
