Pizza Planet: Evening

Jamie escorts Molly to the Pizza Planet and gallantly opens the door for her.

"Okay... first things freakin' first. Where's the whack-a-mole machine?" Jamie said looking around.

"I don't think there is one," Molly said. "It isn't a very big restaurant. They do have a couple of video games in the back though."

"No whack-a-mole?" Jamie said looking crestfallen. "Isn't that against the law?"

Molly grinned. "Maybe you should work on making it one," she said and picked a booth to sit in.

Jamie sat down across from Molly and nervously drummed his fingers loudly on the table top. "I should! It's totally wrong. It should be requirement in all Pizza places. Just like the sign in the restroom that says 'Employees should wash their hands'."

"Just sit down restaurants like this one?" Molly asked as she pulled a menu out of the holder against the wall. "Or should places that just do delivery have them too?"

"Just sit down restaurants," Jamie replied. "Though delivery places have will need to offer free garlic bread. Anything you like on your pizza in general?"

"I'm good with most everything except onions and olives," Molly said. "The Hawaiian pizza is good here, but I'm up for trying something else."

"How about their mexican pizza?" Jamie suggested. "I hear that's pretty good."

Jamie then tried his best to entertain Molly with stories about some of his experiences back in New York and Scotland using various table objects as props and generally making a mess of the booth.

Which earned him a dirty look from the waiter when he dropped off the pizza.

Molly listened to Jamie's stories and spent most of the time giggling, where appropriate. She stopped and bit her lips when the waiter arrived, giving him an apologetic look as she tried to clear enough room for him to put the pizza down.

"Oops," she said to Jamie when the waiter had left again.

"Some people have no sense of humor," Jamie said brushing some chili pepper flakes from his hat and then taking a bite of pizza. "I haven't bored you with my multiple stories about me, have I?"

Molly shook her head. "I haven't talked to many other mutants so it's interesting to hear about the stuff you've done." She took a bite of her pizza as well.

"Oh yeah? What other mutants have you met?" Jamie asked with his mouth full.

Molly thought for a minute, trying to recall who all she had met. "Well, here at school, there's you and Jake, who you haven't met yet. He's on vacation for the summer, but will be back for fall. There was also a guy named Victor who was here for a while, but I actually never talked to him a whole lot and he left a while ago.

"Back home, there were some kids at an X-Corp. place I stayed in for a while, but I don't remember their names. And the X-Men, of course. But I never really talked to them. Mostly I threw things at them and ignored them when they tried to get me to go to their school."

Jamie blinked for a second at the revelation that Jake is not on campus but filed it away for another time.

"Yeah... the X-men are all right but they tend to get a little pushy from time to time," Jamie said scarfing down another slice of pizza. "I personally think Cyclops is a real jerk but that might just be me."

Molly watched Jamie eat for a moment before taking a much more moderate bite of her own pizza. "Yeah, I didn't talk to him much. All I know is that he wasn't happy to have to take no for an answer."

Jamie wiped his face with a napkin and sat back in the booth. "Yeah. He's giving one of my dupes a really hard time up at the academy. He's got no sense of humor."

"Can you tell where your dupes are when you send them out?"

Jamie shakes his head. "Not really. I have a n empathic link? But unfornately it's not like a lojack. Usually I don't read anything from them unless they are about to die or something serious like that. How do you like the pizza?"

"It's good," Molly said, looking down at her pizza. "Do you like it?"

"Yeah it's pretty good," Jamie said as he made a small pyramid with his utensils. "If you ever go to New York, let me know and I'll direct you to this little pizza shop in Mutant Town. Best pizza ever made by a guy with tentacles instead of arms."

"Sure, okay," Molly said, watching him play with his utensils. Was he bored?

Jamie then balanced a spoon on top of the pyramid.

"Ta-dah!" Jamie said waving his hands at the pyramid. "It's a pizza utensil pyra-"

*crash*

"Oh never mind," Jamie said looking embarrassed. "So, tell me how'd did a nice girl like you end up here in fandom."

"Technically, I am a ward of the state of California, but I ran away with my friends when I was eleven," Molly said. "My friends are all older and wanted to go to college so we made an agreement with whoever handles these things that we would quit hiding out if I could pick what school I wanted to go to. Fandom High didn't seem to care that I hadn't been to school in three years and it sounded cool, so I picked here."

Jamie cocked an eyebrow at that. "Why did you run away when you were so young?"

"Me and my friends ran away the first time because we found out our parents were evil villains who controlled all of L.A. and a good chunk of California," Molly explained with a shrug. "After they died and we became wards of the state, we ran away so that we could stay together and try to stop the people who were trying to step into our parents' place."

Jamie nodded and listened attentively as Molly told her story as the food began to disappear from both their plates as the night went on. When she was done Jamie shook his head. "That must have been horrible to find out that your parents were evil."

The waiter came and placed a bill at the table. Jamie quickly grabbed it and handed the waiter enough money for a bill and a tip. "I guess I was lucky in that my parents weren't anything more than parents. I don't know how I would've handled dealing with my parents being villains."

"I had my friends to help me deal with it," Molly said. "After all, they'd all been through the exact same thing." She watched the waiter walk away. "Are we ready to go?"

"I am if you are," Jamie replied with a grin. "Since it is nice out would you like to have a nice *handwavy* walk through the park before we head back to the dorm (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/754504.html)?"

"Sure," Molly said and slid out of the booth to leave.
