Sea caves: Wee Hours of Sunday Morning

Jack - the older one, Captain Jack - sat on the floor of the cave, staring at himself. His younger self had barely moved and he couldn't touch him; all he could do was wait.

There must be someone on this island that would come and get him, even if Jack, in his drug addled state, hadn't thought there was. And if not, he'd take him back to the Hub. Gwen wouldn't report him, and she'd be able to treat his injuries without creating a paradox that would make one - or both - of them disappear.

[ooc: may contain very very minor spoilers for the season finales of the last two seasons of Doctor Who, and rumours and wild speculation regarding Torchwood.]

Jack picked it up. It was small and silver, about the size of a paperback, but thin, most of its surface covered by a view screen. "What is it?"

"Uh huh. Thanks." Was there any point in asking question you already knew the answers to? As he turned the comp over in his hands, he decided that yes, there was. "It was you wasn't it? That took my memories. Had to be if you're the one that brought me back to school."

Jack nodded, finding it hard to argue with something he'd told himself twice. Once on the disc, and now once in person. "Okay." He lifted the comp. "Will this call someone here?"

"Yeah." He was going to be in so much trouble. He was quiet, trying to decide who the best person was, given the circumstances – he glanced at Captain Jack and away - but he couldn't go past the obvious. "Parker," he said very quietly.

"She's a friend." Jack snorted in amusement. "You obviously didn't watch that disc I made, or you'd know about her."

Jack stared at him in puzzlement. "I could have put anything in there, all the things you needed me to forget."

"Yeah." He was struck by a sudden thought. "How come you don't remember her? I'm changing your past. Shouldn't your memories be changing, too?"

Jack recognised the expression. "What?"

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-08-20 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
If you don't remember this, does that mean you're not really me?"

Jack started to smirk. "You're missing out on some good stuff."
