Caritas - Sunday evening [Open]

No animals in the bar. No zombies acting more strangely than usual. No Tino experimenting with getting non-humans drunk. No anything being any weirder than GOB was accustomed to. Excellent.

Caritas was open.

Elliot sat down and drummed her fingers on the bar, barely glancing at Tino. It could mean there had been drama following the one-nighter; it could also mean she was embarrassed and not that into him. Either way, it wasn't an issue, as he barely glanced at her, either.

"Hey, GOB. Can I have a strawberry daquiri?"

"Sure thing," GOB said. "Tino! Strawberry daquiri, stat!" When Tino brought it over, GOB smiled. "You see what I did there? You're a doctor, so I said 'stat.'"

"I appreciate that, very creative," Elliot said, taking a sip of her extremely pink drink.

"So what was the worst accident you were ever in?" Her expression was genuinely curious.

"Accident?" GOB asked. "There was the time my brother accidentally chopped off two of my fingers with a sword. And then when Miho stabbed me, but that was more of a mistake than an accident. Why?"

"I'm trying to plan my final workshop for the summer," Elliot explained. "I have more than enough bizarre injuries stories from work, but I'm kind of collecting other people's to top it off."

She craned her neck, trying to see his hand. "I never noticed you were missing fingers at all."

GOB held up his left hand. "The doctors were able to reattach them, but they switched them. See, my index finger and middle finger are in the wrong spots. First time that procedure had ever been done, I guess."

Elliot inspected the hand. "Nice work," she told GOB. "Though surgeons have nightmares about that kind of stuff. Well, either that or about their thumbs falling off into bowls of count chockula, but mostly about messing up in an operation. Did you sue?"

"No, they did it on purpose," GOB said. "And why would I sue? I got to be part of the first time that procedure had ever been done! I think they're calling it GOB Bluth Surgery now."

Elliot blinked. "Why would they possibly do that on purpose?"

"Because it had never been done before," GOB said. "They're part of history now!"

Elliot considered telling him that was a dumb reason, but he seemed so proud of it that she hated to take it away from him. "Was it hard to get used to?," she asked instead.

"Not really," GOB said. "I'm right handed." As if that solved all of the problems inherent with such a surgery.

"That'd make it a little easier," Elliot said. "So go back to the part where your brother did it with a sword. I have brothers, but they never actually drew blood." She frowned. "Almost never," she amended.

"It was part of an illusion: The Sword of Destiny," GOB explained. "He was waving around the sword to add ambiance and got a little too close."

Elliot screws up her face, as if she's trying to picture this. "Sounds very .. colorful," she says finally. "Until the blood started going everywhere."

"It wasn't a well-executed illusion," GOB admitted.

It really didn't sound like one, so Elliot just shook her head and took another sip of her drink, glancing around the bar.

"Can I get you anything else?" GOB asked.

Elliot glanced at her watch. "Nope, I need to get back to the clinic." She made a face. "I shouldn't drink on my dinner break, but it's been really quiet all day."

Yawn.
