Do you think that 18th/19th century dental work is repaired by one visit to the dentist? Hardly. Edmund was once again away, as his dentist was apparently a distantly related de Sade, leaving Baldrick to man the shop. The rest of Edmund's minions had this ridiculous idea that time off was something they deserved.

All and Sundries is open.

Jamie dropped by All and Sundries after making a brief trip to the mainland to pick up a special picture book (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0028643143/sr=1-1/qid=1156271969/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-6554510-3976815?ie=UTF8&s=books) just for Baldrick. There might have been a CD (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000000OQI/sr=8-1/qid=1156272153/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-6554510-3976815?ie=UTF8) as well.

They were both gift wrapped with shiny paper and a bow made to look just like a turnip.

"Here you go Baldrick. I thought with all the hard work you do around here that you deserved a special gift."

Baldrick's slightly watery eyes grew more watery. "For me?" He took the shiny, turnip-bedecked package reverently and then smiled up at Jamie. "Thank you, sir. I'll treasure it always."

No. He hadn't thought to open it.

"You might want to take the wrapping off the gift," Jamie said with an evil kind grin. "There's something special inside of it."

Baldrick turned the package over and over before determining just how the amazing secret of wrapping paper worked. Soon he was looking confusedly at the book and CD and thinking he'd rather have had a real turnip.

"No one's ever given me a book before."

"It's a special book," Jamie said opening the cover for Baldrick. "See? Pictures."

Baldrick flipped through the picture book a bit and stopped at an illustration that reminded him quite strongly of Mr. Blackadder - it was a man in top hat and tails eating a sumptuous meal while a poor family huddled in the cold outside his window, clearly underdressed and hungry.

The next illustration showed them rising up and tossing the man out on his ass, followed by a happy picture of the family sitting and sharing all of the food with each other and other needy souls who came to them.

Hm...

One could almost hear the gears turning.

"Thank you, sir."
