Caritas [Sunday Evening]

Greg opened up Caritas, mulling over the conversation from earlier in the day with his school-appointed and very grumpy little brother.

He whistled as he started to reassemble the band, and then took his place behind the bar and waving cheerfully to Jarod on the other side of the bar.

[Wait for OCD threads! Threads are up and Caritas is open.]

Taking the young man's hand, Wilson returned a firm handshake. "Dr. James Wilson, pleasure to meet you Greg."

Leaning back, he took another healthy swallow of scotch before continuing. "So, since Summer eh? Did you also witness the jello dragons?"

"MmmHmm...the jell-o dragons, the snakes falling from a plane... just the usual weirdness for this place. Heck, I got dropped into the duck pond this morning; good times."

Though he sounded a bit rueful there was a twinkle in his eyes that spoke of genuine affection for Fandom and for the insanity that often blanketed the school and the town.

"It turned into coffee and I missed it?" Wilson looked genuinely disappointed. "Damn it. Regular or decaf?"

"Well, as long as the ducks aren't trying to take over the town again." Wilson said with a slight tip of his glass before taking another sip.

"So, you've been here since the summer? Which grade are you going in to?"

"Bear with me, it's been almost two years for me, since I was last here but...yes, I think they were possessed or something. OH! But there was Snookums, the demonic duck, he breathed fire and ate all the other demonic ducks."

Wilson looked at his glass then back at Greg. "And now that I've said all that...is there any chance in hell you'll refill this?" Cause he feared he already sounded like he was getting sloshed.

"Probably he left with Crowley, he was sort of Crowley's pet." Wilson said with a smile of a genuine sort of affection and perhaps a little wistfulness. Fandom without Crowley, felt a little strange.

Taking a sip of his refreshed drink, Wilson arched an eyebrow at Greg. "So, besides the jell-o dragons, snakes from the sky, and something about a tentacle monster, how are you adapting to the weird and unusual that seems drawn here?"

Wilson's eyebrows arched upwards and the light of 'scientist' brightened in his expression.

"That's not a bad way to approach it. I'm an oncologist. When I was here the first time around I found the best way to deal with all the different physiological types was simply to apply basic scientific and medical principals to the situations."

"I one time drew living blood. As in the blood itself was alive and...rather ill tempered stuff." Wilson said in a pensive manner, scouring his memories for some other tidbits from when he worked in the Clinic. "Are you volunteering at the Clinic?"

"Sick people do tend to hang out in clinics." Wilson had to agree with a nod and an easy smile.

Really, Wilson was positively itching to say well, the hand of God reached down and... but figured that would probably be a little too deep a conversation for a busy bar.

"My partner got reassigned away from Fandom and I went with. Looks like he might have gotten reassigned back. We've actually been away from here for about 20 months but, in this timeline it seems we've only been gone 8 months."

Sipping at his scotch, Wilson arched an eyebrow. "You haven't run into someone from a different dimension or point in history or the future?"

Wilson took a breath, stopped...thought about what he was going to say then grinned a little ruefully.

"Honestly, Greg? Neither did I. I got a bit of a shock this morning when I landed in the duck pond and have been scrambling all day to get my bearings."

He held up his half empty glass. "Hence, the scotch tonight."
