Caritas [Sunday Evening]

Greg opened up Caritas, mulling over the conversation from earlier in the day with his school-appointed and very grumpy little brother.

He whistled as he started to reassemble the band, and then took his place behind the bar and waving cheerfully to Jarod on the other side of the bar.

Hearing a familiar voice, even in the busy noise of the bar, Wilson turned towards her and his face lit up.

"Alanna! Good evening."

"Wow, people returning to Fandom, always a pleasant surprise." Alanna beamed.

Chuckling, Wilson gave Faithful a polite nod and sipped his scotch. "It's nice to be, a pleasant surprise. How are you doing, Alanna?"

"Good! Starting Senior year. And yourself?" Faithful purred a greeting and went back to making milk disappear.

"Teaching, it would appear." He said, taking a sip off his scotch, her answer confirming in his mind the timeline in Fandom, vs the timeline he'd recently come from.

"Oh, not working at the clinic? Which class then?" Alanna gave Faithful a scritch.

"Nope, seems that despite apperances, Gavin did good by the Clinic and you all have it well in hand." He wasn't about to go into the situation with his license at the moment...or...ever, if he had the option.

"I will be teaching two courses, 'The Best Medicine: Humor's Contribution to Our Well Being' and 'The Philosophy of Values: The parallels between the Medical and Magical Communities.'"

"Oh! I think I'm in the later one. I think. I was definetly looking at it but there are so many interesting classes being offered this term."

"I know." Wilson said with a shy grin. "I was looking over the courses before coming out here. I'll have to admit, I'm a little worried. I'm used to teaching medical students, this is going to be a whole different experience and I hope I can make it all interesting enough for the students of Fandom."

It would be wonderful to have Alanna in his class but he understood that the students had busy schedules.

"Provide food and the students will love you." Alanna said dryly.

Pursing his lips thoughtfully, Wilson nodded. "I can actually do that. Maybe macadamia nut pancakes for my morning class?"

"Maca-what?" Alanna blinked. "And if it's food, they'll like it."

"Food stuff, check!" Wilson agreed and took a sip of his drink. "Oh! This reminds me, I met someone who asked me about you."

Alanna very slowly put her drink down on the table. "Who? And did they call me Alan or Alanna?"

Arching a brow at the deliberate way Alanna set the drink down, Wilson frowned thoughtfully.

"Gave her name as Aly, seems she's living at Mauvaise Chance Apartments, same building I'm in. She called you Alanna of Trebond (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/1042134.html?thread=44398550#t44398550) but the way she talked, it sounded like she knew more 'of you' as in you were a legend to her."

Alanna counted to ten and put her head down on her hand. "Yeah. She's my daughter. She was here about a month ago, that's when yeah." She waved Tino over and upgraded her lemonade to a margarita.

Wilson blinked, paused tried to process that then just slammed back the rest of his scotch and while Tino was over their way motioned for a refill.

"Congratulations, Alanna... I think that just broke my brain."

"Your brain? What do you think mine feels like?! I don't even *want* kids! And toss alternative universes into all of that and then try to figure out which way is up!" Alanna finished off her drink.

Waving his hand in a desperate manner, Wilson finished his mouthful of scotch.

"I have enough trouble wrapping my brain around the idea that my boyfriend is angel and currently racketting about the world and a discorporated spirt, possessing people in order to smack religeous fanatics on the wrist and I got dumped in a duck pond with no warning."

His words rather sped together towards the end there and he paused, took a breath and another sip of scotch.

"It's probably a bad idea to try to figure which way is up in, Fandom. We should know this Alanna." He said, not without sympathy.

"... And you're saying I broke your brain? And up keeps moving here, but the problem is I get motion sick." Seriously, that made sense in her head.

Making a bit of a face, Wilson gave her a wry look. "All right, so my brain was a wee bit bent to begin with, I'll give you that."

A soft sigh and Wilson finally gave up and chuckled softly. "Well, if nothing else, you have to admit that Fandom will toughen us up for anything else life wants to throw our way. Seriously... jell-o dragons?"

"I was a statue at the time, but I heard about it later." Alanna replied calmly.

"......"

"Tino? Tequilla shot please."

"In the clinic." Alanna added helpfully and ordered a shot for herself as well.

"Leave the bottle."
