Empire Records - Open

Maureen opened the store for the first time.

She's spent the last few days going over Lucas's records and finding an apartment in town... ironically handwavy renting it from a guy named Luke.

Now she was ready to start working and figuring out how to make Empire a successful business. She didn't know anything about running a business though. It couldn't be that hard though, right?

She stuck a Help Wanted sign in the window and got ready for the day.

On an afternoon stroll to explore the new town (and probably, subconsciously, looking for the darker spots and alleys), Chad just about nearly blew right past the store until the sign in the window caught his eye. He stopped, right in the middle of his massive tracks, questioned for a moment if he really saw what he saw. Music store. Help wanted sign. Seemed...too...perfect. Slowly, hands in his pockets, Chad took a few steps back. Nope. Didn't imagine it.

Internally, Chad was bursting excitedly through the door. Externally, he was nonchalantly chugging in, slow and steady and stoic, and approached. "Looking for employees?" he drawled.

[[ will also be pretty slow ]]

"Kind of?" After all, he wasn't actively looking for one, but it was just too good of an opprotunity to refuse. Chad rethought his response. That didn't sound all too good, so he changed it. "Yes."

Chad nodded, and carefully took the application from her. With his other hand, he briefly patted his chest, then his hips, then his butt, checking his pockets, despite that his shirt didn't have pockets (there wasn't enough of the extremely loud print material to make both a shirt for him and pockets, or something). Well. Didn't he looked unprepared. "Do you have a pen?" he asked, terribly embarrassed, but it didn't surface at all.

"Thanks," Chad took the pen and looked around for a hard surface to use to write on, or a place to sit down to work on it.

It wasn't until he was halfway through it that it clicked that she had called him 'sweetie.' He acknowledged the realization with a lift of his head, a slight glance up as if distrustful of his own hearing. Nope. That was definately a sweetie. Huh. He went back to finishing the application and, upon completing it, handed it back without a word. He figured it would speak for itself. Figuratively, of course. Literally speaking applications would just be silly.

Chad shrugged. "Not really. Probably not Tuesday or Thursday, 'cause of classes. Would be kind of difficult how convenient!."

Kaylee had always planned to stop by Empire Records at some point, but never got around to it. She figured she might as well check it out now. She couldn't help noticing the Help Wanted sign. "Good morning! You hirin'?"

[identity profile] enginegirl.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sure can," Kaylee said cheerfully. She sat down and began filling out the application. After a few minutes, she handed it over. "Here ya go."

"I don't have a whole lotta experience with earth music," Kaylee admitted. "Will that hurt my chances?"

"I can work anyday you need me," Kaylee said with a grin.

Kaylee smiled. "Alright then. Talk to you later."

Clink clink clink.

There was a very distinctive noise of metal jangling together as El entered the music store.

"I was wondering," El said as he looked around, "If you sell music players as well as CDs."

El nodded and followed Maureen.

"Gracias," El said, picking out a CD player and moving to browse through the selection of Spanish Guitar music.
