V, beckoned by the occasional stirrings he heard above his head, had finally emerged from his basement.

He was perched on the edge of the sofa in the living room in an attempt to be both unobtrusive and semi-social, and was alternately sifting through his only two sources of literature at the moment: the - appropriately enough - "V" volume of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, which he'd found in an alley the night of his arrival, and the strange packet addressed to him that he had yay handwavey found outside his basement window that morning.

"I'm glad you changed your mind," he said, smiling. "Is the basement shaping up yet?"

"It's getting to seem more like my former home," V nodded. Which was true, though it lacked the artistry of the Shadow Gallery. "Are you finding your room comfortable?"

"It's roomy enough, but I'm definitely going to have to look into galleries around here," he said. "It's lacking in decoration I've been missing for a while."

"Galleries?" V asked, sitting up even straighter, if that was possible. "Are you an aesthete?"

Logan lifted one hand and made a see-saw motion, smiling. "Somewhat. Amateur interest, though somewhat less interested in the pedigree than how it all comes together."

"Art was considered contraband," V told him. "I had quite the collection of precious works in my home. They'd been rescued from the British Museum and the Louvre, among other sources."

His eyes widening, Logan found himself suitably impressed. "Wow. I would have loved to have seen it."

"I wonder what she did with them," he mused, then seemed to shake it off and replied more directly, "I kept them safe rather than allowing the authorities destroy them, less than for my own selfish enjoyment."

Logan nodded, looking concerned. "My sympathies, really. The government on my world is, thankfully, not so much into declaring things contraband as just the extreme fascism."

"We had the same," he nodded. "It was called Norsefire, and I sincerely hope I'm right to use past tense. If all went according to plan, I took Norsefire out with me when I d...when I left."

"Sounds like some insurrectionists I've known and worked with," Logan said, smirking.

V tilted his head. "'Insurrectionist' would be an accurate enough term, I suppose. I merely tried to represent an idea and inspire others. I wish I knew if I was successful."

Logan looked altogether very pleased. "Sounds very familiar."

"Does it?" he asked curiously.

If he was this far in the past, in a place like this, Logan doubted it was much of a security risk. "In Seattle I've been running an information network, investigating as much as I can when something seems fishy, and reporting the findings to the public in untraceable television hacks." He smiled. "It's not as far reaching as I'd like sometimes, but we do what we can."

If V's mask had allowed for him to look impressed, he would have. Instead he simply said, "Impressive. Do you have contacts back where you were, or someone continuing your work?"

"I still have contacts, and people to carry on most of the things I was doing," he said, nodding. "We have some... delicate negotiations going on that meant putting the broadcasts on hiatus, so I took a sort of vacation, coming out here."

"You're very fortunate to have allies," he said warmly. "I had a protégé of sorts, and I trust her to keep things stable, though as far as I know, she'll simply lead the way into the new era we established. The revolutionary work is finished."
