V, beckoned by the occasional stirrings he heard above his head, had finally emerged from his basement.

He was perched on the edge of the sofa in the living room in an attempt to be both unobtrusive and semi-social, and was alternately sifting through his only two sources of literature at the moment: the - appropriately enough - "V" volume of the Encyclopaedia Britannica, which he'd found in an alley the night of his arrival, and the strange packet addressed to him that he had yay handwavey found outside his basement window that morning.

Logan paused before he responded, thinking. "Do you have computers at all?"

"Not personally, but I know what they are."

"Okay," Logan said, somewhat relieved not to have to start completely at square one. "Online refers to accessing the internet, a worldwide computer network, through computers for informational purposes. I've got a computer hooked up already - seems like we're wired for cable access - and found the Fandom Town directory there."

Thursday was familiar with interconnected networks in the fictional world because in order to jump from one book to another you needed to have a connection, whether it was a passage or even a conjugated verb that linked up. "I think I understand. But you have a computer here? I thought they were quite large."

"In my world, personal computers, ones small enough to fit on a office desk, hit the market in the 1970s," he said. "I have a couple desktop models and a laptop version here with me, if you're ever curious enough to take a look."

Thursday nodded. "Thank you. I'd like to adapt sooner than later if it's a common thing here."

"I can set up a few tutorials," he said, thinking about it. "Start basic and see how you pick it up."

"I can't claim to be a fast learner, but I am determined. If there's anything I can do in return, do tell me."

"You already offered to join my commute." Logan smiled. "I think anything else will itself out at some point."
