The Park, Thursday

After a quick stop at the Perk for scones, Aziraphale made his way to his favorite spot in the park -- a bench next to the pond. He settled onto it with an audible sigh, thermos of tea and paper sack of scones next to him, and thought about how nice it was to be back.

Pulling a scone from the bag, he proceeded to crumble it into pieces for the ducks. Just like old times.

"Ah! I believe I may have met him...sort of...the other evening. At Caritas."

Not certain whether Saigo was up on the names of all of the town establishments -- did ducks have their own names for the places around them? -- he added, "The club where everyone goes to sing. Only...I was rather not looking myself, so he likely wouldn't remember me. Perhaps I'll happen across him again, though."

Saigo wasn't sure he understood, but he knew there were many things about humans and those that resembled them, that he would never quite understand.

//He does frequent various buildings in the town. And of course when not there he is usually to be found at the hotel.//

"Then I am quite certain I'll see him again."

Aziraphale crumbled some more scones for the other ducks, who were starting to look rather annoyed at being ignored.

"So you...live at the hotel?"

//Yes I occupied one of the small draining ponds the humans bathed themselves in while I recovered. Now I mostly stay with the Clark Human in a nest I made out of the things called blankets near the...what did he call it, balcony.//

"Ahhh...a bathtub." Aziraphale nodded. It was actually rather interesting to see the world from the point of view of a duck. Without actually having to be a duck.

"You don't care to move back to the pond, then?"

But I find myself drawn to learning about humans, as they are the other dominant species on this island.//

"Oh yes, they really are interesting, aren't they? I've become rather fond of them myself, during my visits to Fandom. Like them nearly as much as I do ducks, now," he added with a smile.

Ducks don't smile, as their bills do not permit it, but they ahve their own version. //My hope is that future generations of Ducks will be able to better co-exist with the humans in peace. We've had problems in the past.//

Aziraphale nodded. "Quite. But it does seem that at least here, the mortals are learning how to interact with ducks properly." He raised an eyebrow at one of the more rotund of Saigo's brethren. "So I do have hope for the species as a whole."

Aziraphale chuckled to himself at the exchange, bribing a couple others away from the statue with some more bits of scone. If humans and ducks could find a way to cooperate, maybe there was hope for the world after all.
