Beach, early evening

Zuko sat in the sand, waiting for Bel to show up. He was wearing his usual clothes again now, while he liked his new outfits, he felt more at ease doing this in the clothes he was familiar with. He just hoped it wouldn't start raining again.

((Audience is welcome, but for your character's safety please don't tag into the thread between Zuko and Bel. Things might get hot.))

Bel walked down the beach, smoking a cigarette. He spotted Zuko and grinned. This should be fun, seeing what the kid was made of. Not many people could play with fire who weren't demons.

"Hey," he said.

Zuko rose to his feet and turned towards Bel. "Are you prepared for a demonstration?" he asked and if he sounded more excited than he had since he came here, it probably had to do with finally getting something that he was good at.

"Show me what you got, kid," Bel said.

Zuko decided to just start off slow. Taking a deep breath, he pushed both arms forward and sent a long burst of fire out across the water.

"Nice," Bel said. He conjured up a ball of fire, then drew back his arm and tossed it after Zuko's burst.

"That is nothing," Zuko said with a glance at Bel. "The question is; How well can you take it?" There was definitely a challenge there.

"Hit me with your best shot," Bel challenged. Zuko was impressive so far, but he was, after all, just a kid.

There was the hint of a smirk as Zuko stepped back and got into his fighting stance. "If you're sure," he said and punched the air, this time sending a burst right at Bel's chest.

Bel staggered backward, only barely keeping his footing. "Whoa," he said. He was beginning to envy Zuko's versitility with his powers. Still, there was something to be said for being good at one thing. He summoned up another ball of fire and threw it back at Zuko, giving him enough time to dodge if he needed to.

Zuko didn't dodge, he sunk his feet firmly into the sand instead and crossed his arms at the wrist, taking the fireball right there and dispersing the energy. "Not bad," he commented.

"How big can you go?" Bel asked, starting to summon another fireball.

"I survived when they blew up my ship," Zuko replied and doesn't mention that it had been a close escape. He's showing off after all.

Bel grinned. "Try this one on for size," he said, making the ball grow bigger, then throwing it.

Talking a walk through town to get his bearings a little better, Yondaime paused as he walked along the beach saw the two students sparring. At least that's what he hoped that they were doing. Things seemed to be rather intense, with fire shooting everywhere, and then the other student transporting behind the other. He chuckled and smirked. Maybe this isn't so different from home Yondaime thought as he sat down on the side of the road to watch.

It was only after the fighting that Zuko noticed someone had been watching. At least it wasn't the principal. He gave the person a small nod as he started heading back towards the road.

Yondaime nodded back with a small smirk. "That was very impressive. Is that a jutsu or a natural ability that you have?" His fire abilities reminded him quite a bit of the Uchiha clan back home.

Zuko stopped walking and turned towards Yondaime. "Jutsu?"

He nodded and continued with a soft smile on his face. "Yes, it's another word for technique where I come from." The blond held out his hand in greeting. "I'm Yondaime."

"Zuko," he replied, hesitating another moment before taking the offered hand. "It's both."

Yondaime looked up towards the sky as he thought. "Zuko..? Hmm I beleive you're signed up for my Energy and Fitness class." The blond continued to look thoughtful, Zuko could probably see the gears turning in the other man's head. "Both you say? Hmm that's very intersting. Do you mind me asking how you develope them?"

"I did?" Zuko still hadn't signed up for any classes. Weird that. "You're born with the skill to firebend, but it takes years to actually master it," he said, not sure exactly what Yondaime wanted him to explain.

"Hmm well I'm pretty sure that I remember seeing that name somewhere." He shrugged with a grin. "Fire bending? That's very interesting, there are some where I come from that have some fire abilities it depends on what affinity they have." Yondaime explained taking a step back and holding out his hands, clasping them together and pulling them apart to reveal a small whirling ball of wind. "Like this that I developed." He said continuing to smile.

It was reflex, Zuko took a step back and looked very much ready to throw a fireball in Yondaime's direction. "You're an airbender."

The airball dissapaited as Yondaime looked at Zuko curiously. "An airbender?" He chuckled and shook his head. "No I don't think so, I'm a ninja." Yondaime said trying to calm Zuko, though feeling very sure that he wouldn't have trouble dodging if the young man attacked. Note to self, Zuko has adverse reactions to air attacks He thought. "I've never heard of an air bender or a fire bender before."

"You manipulate air," he pointed out, still eyeing Yondaime suspiciously but then Bel could manipulate fire and he wasn't a bender either. "In my world, depending on where you are from people can control one of the elements."
