Empire Records: [9/7]

Jamie opened up Empire Records and settled down behind the counter with a copy of Rolling Stone so he could keep up with the latest music trends because that totally counts as working. Totally.

After lunch Pippi flounces down to Empire.

"Hey Jamie."

"Hey Pippi," Jamie said looking up from his magazine. "What's up?"

Pippi held up a pad.

"I'm looking to buy some music of course!" she said.

"Need my help or do you know what you're looking for?" Jamie asked.

"Well, so far, I got 'Carlos Santana', 'Jimi Hendrix', and 'The Gypsy Kings'..."

"Sound like a nice collection of music," Jamie replied. "Is it for anything in particular?"

"I want to make like a mixed play list." Pippi said. "Like romantic but not sappy."

"Huh," Jamie said trying to think. "Unfortunately anything that comes to mind is of the sappy nature. I assume this is for Pip?"

Cue the doofy smile.

"Sorta yeah."

"Hmmm. Well in my opinion you can't go wrong with Spinal Tap, but they're not for everyone."

"Okay throw that in!"

"Anything else?"

"Eric Clapton?"

Aeryn is actually not psychotically homicidal after Ethics like she expected. In fact, she's figuring there's something she should probably do, so she finds herself at Empire for the first time, with exactly no idea what this place is actually for.

Considering how their last encounter went Jamie considers for a few seconds the idea of running and hiding.

He braces himself and tries to smile. "Hi Ae-^ryn."

Stupid voice cracking.

"Out of the clinic before I even knew you were there," she greets him, completely calmly. "Another escape?"

"I think I annoyed the doctor enough she let me go just so she wouldn't hear me whine," Jamie replied. "Um... is this about the whole 'me almost killing you' thing?"

"Do you think you almost killing me is going to happen again?" she asks. There's no real menace in the question. It's just a question.

"No," Jamie said shaking his head. "I'm not letting that happen again. Is that why you dropped by?"

She nods. "That, and to make sure you were all right," she says. "Are you?"

"I am," Jamie replied. "I'm just taking it easy for now but I'm pretty much back at full strength. Um... can I ask you a question?"

After today, she's pretty sure she can handle whatever it is. "Sure."

"The last time I talked with you it didn't end that well," Jamie feeling a tad weird bringing it up. "Are we okay?"

"I have a disturbing amount of experience with people acting under the influence of something that made them not themselves. I can understand that, and I've lost too many friends lately as it is. We're okay," she assures him.

Jamie sighed in relief. "Good. I know an apology is a pretty weak thing to give with what I did but I'm glad you understand. If there's anything I can do to make it up to you, let me know."
