Caritas, Wednesday Evening

Jarod opened the bar on schedule, said hello to Tino, retaped the zombie band, and realized he was getting bored with Fandom.

This couldn't be good.

Jarod's here, as is Tino.

"Hey, Jarod," GOB said walking up to the bar. "Scotch. How's life?"

Jarod shrugged, the poured the drink. "Same as usual, I guess. How about you?"

"Same as it ever was," GOB said. "Mostly insane. Interesting, though."

"Oh, yeah? How so?" Jarod had to admit that GOB's life certainly seemed very interesting.

"More fighting with Becky, making up, and trying to work out new business strategies," GOB said as if they were all the same degree of difficulty.

"Did you see the sign?"

"Ah. And you made up with Becky?" Jarod blinked. "Sign?"

"The up and back of fighting and making up is half the fun," GOB said.

"The sign outside. Three Minute Dates on Saturday."

He shook his head. Fighting with Parker wasn't fun at all. "Oh, right. I remember now. Sounds like it should be good for business."

"You're in, right?" GOB asked.

"In for what?" Jarod got a very strong feeling of doom.

"The three minute dates," GOB said. "You're the young face of Caritas. You're a good looking kid, any woman in town would want three minutes with you. You're a draw. I need you there."

"But I have a girlfriend," Jarod made what he felt was a very reasonable argument. "She's a very good shot."

"You don't have to do anything. Just talk to the girls for three minutes," GOB said. "I can even make things easier and make sure you're one of Becky's dates, okay? Nothing's going to happen there for sure."

"Fine," Jarod sighed and decided he'd tell Parker...later. "And thank you for pairing me with Becky, I appreciate that."

"It's the least I could do," GOB said. Also, it made for at least one person GOB knew Becky wouldn't try anything with. He felt crafty and pleased.

"This place has been kind of quiet recently. You don't think people are going to that dance club nobody ever goes to, do you?"

"I'm not sure," he said after some thought. "Maybe it has to do with classes? Or maybe people just miss Veronica."

"That could be it," GOB said. "All the more reason why stuff like Saturday is important. Get the new kids in, get them drinking, get them in here more regularly."

"I've also talked to your girlfriend about a band playing here. We're looking at a new age of Caritas: The Age of Promotions."

"Nothing like corrupting the young," Jarod smirked. "And Parker told me about that. Her friend Zero has been in a band before, so this should be a big draw."

"I'm also thinking about getting some wizards to lift the spell for an hour every couple weeks and having a biweekly barfight night," GOB said

Jarod facepalmed. "You might want to check with your insurance agent first."

"That's probably a good idea. But if you know any good wizards, I want their names," GOB said, making a note on a napkin about the insurance agent.

Jarod did, in fact, know a wizard, but he wasn't going to ask Cedric to lift the spell so people could fight each other. "I'll keep that in mind."

"Thanks. I appreciate it," GOB said, finishing his drink. "Okay, Jarod. Enjoy the rest of your night. I'll see you on Saturday."

"Right. Saturday," Jarod said, feeling that dread come back. "Nice seeing you again, GOB."
