Ching Tai (Friday evening)

Josh didn't believe in curses, which was why he was waiting for Tex at Ching Tai.

Okay, he might've believed in curses.

Maybe he was hoping just a little bit to be stood up.

But he certainly wasn't going to admit to that. For all he knew, Tex could read minds.

[OOC: Josh is here for what could become a truly disasterous trainwreck of a date. Ching Tai is here for any wonton-related cravings you might be having.]

Tex definitely didn't believe in curses, but she did believe in free food which was probably why she showed up at all.

"Still petrified?" she asked as matter of greeting as she took the seat opposite of Josh.

Tex absolutely didn't look satisfied that the whole scare tactic was still working.

"I never turn down free food," she informed him. That way it was perfectly clear who would be picking up the bill.

Picking up her own menu, Tex studied it for a moment. She grinned. "Duck is always good." She might have unresolved issues with ducks.

"Same," Tex said, handing her menu over to the waiter who for some reason seemed eager to scurry back to the kitchen.

"So how's... teaching?" she asked in an attempt to be conversational.

Tex scoffed a bit at the mention of democracy. "This island makes it easy to forget how naive this time is."

She shrugged. "You believe in democracy, don't you?"

"Figured," Tex nodded and wondered when the duck would be ready.

"I'm sure the girls find it cute," she assured him, sounding a little bit patronising.

Yep, first time in Fandom that she wished there was a duck.

Tex' sentiment exactly.

She waited until the waiter was gone again before replying. "I'm sure there's a fanclub too," she said dryly and picked up her beer.

"With or without pompons?" Why yes, she was mocking.

"Oh yeah," Tex nodded and took a bite from the duck. "That's much better. With or without glitter?"

"I wasn't aware it was exciting anywhere," she remarked, taking her sweet time with eating.

Walter, oblivious to the disastrous date that was continuing Ching Tai's reputation, stopped in for take-out, going extra-spicy on a couple of the choices.
