The Perk, Tuesday

While Wilson was spending his day sleeping in his office and conducting class, Aziraphale decided to get out of the apartment for a bit. Taking his Daily Telegraph along with him, he headed down to the Perk for a cup of apple spice tea and a scone. Finding himself a quiet table, he settled in to work his crossword.

Aziraphale's table didn't remain quiet for long, when the Doctor stood next to it and cleared his throat.

"Is this seat taken?" he asked.

Aziraphale looked up and gave the Doctor a bright smile.

"Not at all, my dear, do sit down. I see that you survived the weekend intact."

"Well, didn't have to tell anyone their children were horrible students, which is always a plus," the Doctor said, sitting. "That, and the bizzare fact I was only visited by grandparents might have something to do with it."

Pausing for a moment to consider, Aziraphale nodded. "You know...I only met one actual parent myself, at least for my own students. I met one mother, one grandmother, a brother, a...dead grandfather, one guardian, and one demonic foster father." He chuckled. "Although why I should think that's such a strange thing, I don't know. At least only one of them threatened me."

"You were threatened?" the Doctor asked.

"Oh, well...not because of my position as a teacher, you know. It was Belthazor's foster father. I really think that probably he oughtn't have been invited."

"I didn't have the misfortune of meeting him," the Doctor said. "Unpleasant to the end, I take it?"

"I don't expect he intended for anyone to meet him. James and I happened upon the two of them accidentally -- he was trying to force Belthazor to go back with him to the Underworld." Aziraphale sighed and shook his head. "That young man is a magnet for troubles. Between his foster father and that horrid mess with Zuko and Marie..."

He shook his head again and sipped at his tea. "I suppose, on the bright side, for the most part it was an enjoyable weekend. Although I suspect quite a few of the students are glad it's over."

The Doctor nodded. "Probably the best for all of us, really. When things get domestic, things get ugly. Nothing I particularly want to get involved in, family disputes."

"Hello," Clark greeted the two gentlemen. "How did you hold up this weekend?"

"Good afternoon," Aziraphale replied, smiling. "Well enough, I suppose. Parents are an interesting lot, I must admit. I think I may be as pleased as the students that it's all over. And what about yourself?"

"Can't complain," the Doctor said. "Nothing too extraordinary, really. For me, at least."

"There were a few surprises." Clark said, in answer to Aziraphale's question. "And, I somehow managed to annoy Blair Sandberg quite a bit."

"Oh? I only managed to annoy his mother," replied Aziraphale. "I wonder what was wrong."

"Something to do with her love life apparently." clark blushed. "that and the fact that I'm the one who gave her a room."

"Ah." Aziraphale remembered hearing something on the radio about Blair's mother, although he hadn't paid much attention.

"I'm certain he was just unsettled and lashing out a bit," he assured Clark. "Mr Sandburg usually isn't like that, but having his mother visit was rather a strain on him, I think."

Clark nodded. "He certainly seemed unusually out of sorts yes."

He couldn't imagine his own mother being a strain, unless of course you counted keeping her safe on this crazy island.

Rosette stopped in sometime late Tuesday morning, on her way back to the church, to order two mochas to go. She fidgeted a bit with her habit as she waited for them to be made.

Aziraphale looked up as Rosette stood at the counter waiting for her order, and nodded at her, smiling.

Brushing a strand of hair out of her eye and bouncing a little impatiently as she waited, Rosette returned the nod with a bobbing of her head. She gave a small smile back, and a wave, too.

"Are you on your way someplace, Sister? If not, you're welcome to join me."

"Aww," Rosette smiled. "Thank you kindly for the offer, but, unfortunately, I'm outta here as soon as I get my peace offering. Chrono's probably wondering what I am, so I should get back to him as soon as possible."

They must have had a new girl working or something, though, because they seemed to be taking for.ev.ver. And Rosette was never one for patience. Her idly shifting between feet started up again.

"But you an' I really should get together and chat sometime. About the church. And stuff." She didn't want to outwardly say angel stuff, but that's what she was thinking.

"Of course, my dear. We absolutely should. I know you probably think me awfully negligent about not coming by more often. But to honest, I never really had much to do with churches. They're not really...where I do my work, you know."

He smiled sheepishly. "I shall do my best to come by this week, if that would be convenient for you?"

"Psshh," Rosette smirked, and shrugged. "I never did any of my work in churches before this year, either. I can't blame you a bit; dull as tombs. Well, actually not because we discovered the tombs to be quite exciting, but that's beside the point. Doesn't have to be at the church, anyway. Maybe we can get together for coffee some time, like we could now if I weren't expected. There ain't nothing around the church I do that Chrono can't do for a little bit."

"Well that sounds very nice, Sister," Aziraphale replied, smiling. "I have office hours Thursday morning, and class Friday morning. But I think most any other time I would be free to meet."

He raised an eyebrow at Rosette's statement about the tombs, and wondered what exactly she'd found. Obviously nothing too dangerous, though, as they hadn't yet been overrun by zombie rats or the like.
