Movies in the Park, 10/25

The portable screen has been set up once again, and people are beginning to stake out their favorite spots. With the weather cooling off, outdoor gas heaters have been set up in various locations around the cinema area.

Bring your date or meet your friends, or just find a quiet place to enjoy a good movie. The film begins at dusk.

[OOC: The movie begins at dusk, and the screen will be removed afterwards. OCD threads ~~will be~~ have been set up for your movie-going use. Anyone who needs the park for other purposes will find that the outdoor cinema takes up only a portion of the park, with plenty of space available for non-movie needs. This is the first in a series, which will run every Wednesday until mid-November (barring an unexpectedly cold autumn).]

"Thank you," Lana said, feeling her eyes fill a little. "It's been one of the most helpful things, knowing you were here. And my parents would love you."

The way I do, she didn't say, but it probably showed in her face.

Jim saw it. He bent his head and kissed her softly. "I love you, too." The words slipped out before he could stop them.

Lana stared up at him, eyes wide with wonder. "You...? Oh, Jim..." She stretched up to kiss him, holding him tightly.

Jim kissed her again, ignoring the way his ears went pink at the look in her eyes. "Told you I just needed some time," he said with a lopsided smile when he finally pulled back.

She buried her head in his chest. "Thank you. For everything."

"Don't thank me," Jim said, uncomfortably. "Just . . . feel better?"

"I already do," Lana said with a little smile. "Just being with you makes me feel better."

"Guess I'm doing my job then." Jim ducked his head to kiss her again.

"You get an A for your boyfriend duties," Lana said kissing him back and feeling somewhat cheerful for the first time since the weekend.

"I've always wondered what one of those is like," he joked. Jim? Not big with the studying.

She smiled up at him. "Well, you totally deserve it," she said, stroking his face.

"Biased," Jim reminded her, grinning.

"In the perfect position to really know you," she countered with a smile.

"Alright, maybe," Jim conceded.

Lana smiled and rested her head contentedly on his shoulder as the movie got ready to start. "Did you see we made the paper today?" she asked.

"We did?" Jim asked, eyebrow rising. "Should I be scared?"

"Nope," Lana said. "They just said something about us surviving the weekend and still being cuddly together. It was kind of nice."

"Oh." Jim shrugged. "Well, must have been a slow newsweek."

"It's actually a column called the Shipping News. It's all about that sort of stuff."

"Maybe I should start reading the paper a bit more," he said sheepishly.

Lana shrugged. "It's pretty short, but it's a good way to kind of keep up with some of what's going on. Especially since I don't usually listen to the radio much."

She yawned. "Sorry. I'll probably fall asleep on you halfway through the movie at this rate."

"It's alright." Jim hesitated. He didn't really like bringing up her nightmares, knowing how she felt about it. "You haven't much sleep lately, after all."

"I know. I'm sorry," she said ducking her head. "But tomorrow I don't have to work and I only have one class. We could spend almost the whole day just snuggling. If you want to."

Jim's smile was bright, broad, and immediate. "Twist a guy's arm, why don'tcha," he chuckled, kissing her forehead.

Lana felt warm and happy for the first time in a while. "Sounds like a plan then."
