Trick or Treat - All Day

Today was Halloween and Fandom Town wanted to contribute to the Holiday. Someone at Town Hall had apparently overdone himself and spread flyers around town with the Trick or Treat route on it. He did have to put them safely on window sills or benches to avoid the small growling vampire pumpkins from trying to roll over them.

After sunset, the route would be lit by torches and if you ran into a troopers, chances were they had swapped their helmet for a scary mask. They were staying clear of the Sheriff just in case, though.


((ZOMG, gimme time for the OCD. OCD is up. Wait to comment in threads until the owners have tagged into it. If anyone would prefer to make their own Trick or Treat post and just tag in here with a link for people to follow, that is perfectly fine as well.

He turned around, saw Sam, and promptly dropped the plant. Fumbling to catch it before it hit the ground, he whistled again. "Wow."

Sam spun a little. "You like it? I borrowed it from Isabel. Nice tights."

"Like doesn't even begin to cover it." He was starting to recover, and he struck a pose. "I'm Jack." He held up the plant. "This is my beanstalk."

Sam cracked up. "You win. That's absolutely brilliant," she said, still giggling.

"Why thank you." He bowed a little. "I was going to go as a hero from a romance novel, but I couldn't resist this. But you," he looked her up and down, eyes gleaming with appreciation, "I think you definitely win."

Sam kept snickering. "A romance novel? Complete with diagrams about how certain authors don't understand physics? And I jingle." She stuck her right foot out and wiggled it, making the bells around her ankle ring.

"It's not my fault if she doesn't do her research properly. I did offer to help," he pointed out, shaking his head in mock sadness. "You know, you're never going to be able to sneak up on anybody if you jingle."

"Jack," Sam glanced down at her own outfit. "I'm wearing purple scarves and a bra. I've got a blonde wig on. Something tells me I'm not exactly in stealth mode."

"True." He reached out to slide one of those scarves between his fingers. "But I have a feeling this could be a lot more effective than stealth."

"Evening," Cedric said, after wandering through the crowd. "It's hard to find people when they're all in costumes."

Jack turned around and his jaw dropped. "And for the second time tonight, all I can say is wow."

"Nope." Jack curled one of Cedric's braids around his finger. "That's the very opposite of wrong. In fact, that's pretty damn close to perfect."

"I saw a photo in a book," he said. "And was able to piece together something similar to what I saw."

"Looking like that? You're going to make everybody jealous." Jack looked back and forth between Sam and Cedric and grinned. "Not as jealous as they're going to be of me, though."

"I haven't quite perfected the pirate slang," Cedric said, "so I'll avoid that for tonight."

"Right, no slang," he said distractedly. Jack glanced at the crowd, then back to Sam and Cedric. "And suddenly the last thing I feel like doing is hitting strangers up for candy."

"You have a one track mind, Jack," Sam laughed, not that she could blame him, objectively speaking. She kissed his cheek. "I'll see you tomorrow?"

She did mind, a little, but she didn't mention it and ignored the small pang. "Of course not. I hogged all your time yesterday. Plus, this way I don't have to go door to door."

Jack kissed her softly. "Okay. Thanks, Sam." Choosing, he was discovering, wasn't fun. And he knew the obvious solution to the problem wasn't an option. "Will you wear this for me sometime?" he asked, keeping his voice low. "Maybe tomorrow?"

"I was thinking about going to the movie in the park tomorrow," Sam told him, "but I'll definitely wear it for you before I clean it and give it back to Isabel, okay?"
