Trick or Treat - All Day

Today was Halloween and Fandom Town wanted to contribute to the Holiday. Someone at Town Hall had apparently overdone himself and spread flyers around town with the Trick or Treat route on it. He did have to put them safely on window sills or benches to avoid the small growling vampire pumpkins from trying to roll over them.

After sunset, the route would be lit by torches and if you ran into a troopers, chances were they had swapped their helmet for a scary mask. They were staying clear of the Sheriff just in case, though.

((ZOMG, gimme time for the OCD. OCD is up. Wait to comment in threads until the owners have tagged into it. If anyone would prefer to make their own Trick or Treat post and just tag in here with a link for people to follow, that is perfectly fine as well.

Have fun and please let me know if I forgot something or if you have questions.

ETA: Now there's even a thread to gather at the school gates. *facepalms*))

"John!"

Screw the candy; John got hugs from the event-excited, slightly sugar-rushed nun in red fake leather.

And an eye roll from the purple haired kid with the wire halo.

"Ros--aaack!" John got squozen by a busty devil and pulled away. Well, after a minute or two. Don't want to be rude about it.

"Don't you think you're a little old to be trick-or-treating?" Rosette smirked a little as narrowed her eyes in a fake, accusing glare.

"Nope. Free candY? I'm so there." John smiled.

Rosette held up her bowl. "Ugh, take as much as you want, I mean it. Otherwise, I'll be eating it all myself, and that would not be good."

"Right. BEcause we all know that celebrating El Dia Del Muerto by celebritory bellyache is a tradition." John smiled more. And grabbed the nun some candy with both hands.

While scarfing some down, he may have said something that could possibly translate as movie in the park.

"Don't most people wait til they leave the scene of the crime to do that?" Rosette asked, obviously amused. "And I'm afraid I didn't quite catch that. While I speak it fluently, I still have trouble understanding Stuffed-Face."

"Most people aren't me. It'd suck if they were, because that means that there've been multiple people who've gone back in time, and that just makes me a timeclone. And no one wants to be that." John balled up the wrapper and hookshoots it to the handwavy basket.

"I asked if you heard about the movie in the park."

"Oh, yeah! Chrono and I have been going each week. I've really been enjoying modern cinema."

Hey. For her, those old films were quite futuristic.

"Right. Cuz those screwball comedies of the 30's? Futuristic worlds!" He may have been pulling her chain.

"They're so fascinating! To think that's what the world'll be like in a decade or two when I go back home." Her eyes were sparkling a little wistfully. Even if John was just joking around, she took it rather seriously. Those were decades she probably wouldn't get to see at all, so it meant a lot to her to see them now, even if only vicariously through film. "I'm really excited for tomorrow's too. Every week, actually..."

"DOn't get too rosy-eyed. Some of the things that happen in your future, in my past, aren't gtreat or wonderful." John looked down for moment. "But ther'es good, too."

Rosette's cheerfulness disappeared significantly, though a soft smile remained on her face. The sparkle in her eyes was replaced by a distant look. "Still nice, though," she said quietly. Good or bad, she was just happy that it was there, that she could access it, knowing that she wouldn't be able to.

"It survives, Sister. It survives." John breaks the solemn moment by merping her in the schnoz.

Rosette wasn't quite sure what 'it' John was refering to, but whatever it was would fare better than her. "That's good," she said, though, allowing a wry smile at his merping.

JOhn doesn't say anything, because he can't think of anyhthing to say.

Rosette shook her head; she'd blame her sudden meloncoly as a possible sugar crash, and sported an exceedingly large grin to make up for it as she pulled herself out of it. "So, you thinking of going tomorrow? Maybe I can look for you and join you in watching the film?"

"Yeah, I think I'm gonna plan on going to see 'em as long as they'll have 'em. It's like a drive-in, right?"
