Caritas, Wednesday Evening

Jarod opened the bar, trying to ignore the feeling of impending doom as he prepared the garnishes. The oranges looked very innocent, as did the limes. The cherries, however, were obviously plotting something.

Pippi arrives early and sets up her drum kit.

Billy came in to see the show, and maybe quaff a few root beers.

Parker was there, checking the sound set-up and resolutely not looking at the bar. Much. For a certain value of 'much'.

She had a basket with pieces of paper for the Name the Van (http://mparker17.livejournal.com/69171.html) contest there too.

No point putting it off any longer, right? Parker had worn her best Versace even though it felt like she was trying too hard, and made damn sure there was nothing wrong with her hair or make-up. So. Time to bite the bullet.

"Diet Coke, please." A deep breath. "Long time no see."

Chad wasn't exactly early, but he had plenty enough time to make sure his bass was in tune and all the strings tightened.

Parker very carefully set the lime aside, and took a sip, wondering where her careful mental script had gone. Two seconds into the conversation and she was lost. She'd thought she was almost over him and now-- damnit.

"Maybe I'm just surprised you came back at all." She kept her voice even, but her fingers were tapping on the glass. "Since you were having so much fun."

"No, of course not. That's not what I meant." Parker glared at him, then took another sip of her drink. She bit down on an ice cube, hard, chewed and swallowed. "But it's not my business anyway now, right?"

Keep reminding yourself of that, Parker. Head in the game.

A shrug, a raised eyebrow, and hopefully he couldn't tell how much effort the casual attitude took. "Maybe. Maybe not. You know how I like to keep track of things."

"Hey, Pippi. You ready for tonight?" Parker pushed her hair back in between hooking stuff up. "And how's Walter doing? Is Nadia going to be okay for tonight?"

Talk to each other, comment on the band, or grab Parker and make a request. She'll pass it along.

The powerful urge to throw the drink in his face and see how he'd deal with that was quashed as soon as it rose.

"Right." Hard smirk, and a long gulp of the drink. "Forget I asked. You barely shared things that were my business. Why would that change now?"

Be like that. "And such a hardship it was for you, too. I'm so relieved for you that you're free to risk your life without having anyone worry at all."

"Walter's getting better, Nadia said she was going to take him out in a wheel chair trick-or-treating, which I heard she did. So I think she'll be here."

Ow. "Whatever. Like you said-- not my problem now." Parker took another gulp of her drink, temper on a tight leash. "M missed you."
