Sparky Repairs, Saturday

Saturday was never a good day to go to work... but the evening seemed to promise some interesting events, so they weren't entirely down about it.. plus! The engine had come in, and the twins were excited to see if that go-cart would start working now.

Sparky's is open.

John shows up a bit later in the day after putting away his travelling kit.

Shiny!Engine kept calling him.

"GAH" John turned around from where he was petting the engine crate. "Don't DO that!"

"Is pritty." JOhn catches the drool before it falls on the engine.

He starts undoing the crate so he can get at the engine and start tweaking it.

"Um. Guys? Where did you get this?"

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2006-11-12 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you know what this is?"

[seriously. DO you know what it is? Is it a small lawnmower/snowblower type engine, or is it more like a motorcycle/dirtbike/ATV engine? XD srsly!]

"No, actually, it's great. Should provide a good weight/power ratio. I was thinking," John said, starting to dismantle some of the assemblies to give them a coat of lube and sealant, "that I'd have this underpowered lawn mower with wheels, but this... this might get highway speeds." His grin is barely visible, but it's beaming.

He looks at the twins. "Righty, can you get me that can of oil on the second shelf there? The lube. Lefty, how's about you bring me the socket set." John's grin may have been contagious.

"COol. THanks." John pried the plastic lid off hte can of lube and dipped two fingers in. He coated the moving parts with it and looked around for a rag.

"Um. Can one of you toss me that rag?"

THe rag in question was dirty and oily, with a few places to grab that wasn't soiled.

"Thanks." John wiped the grease off his hands and picked up the socket set. Finding the sockets and extensions he needed, he worked his way around the engine, dissassembling and lubing everything, and using sealant where necessary.

"Okay, this'll be fun." He moved the engine, still on the crate pallet, onto a hand cart and wheeled it out the side door.

"Oh, crap. Almost forgot."

"Fluids. Duh." JOhn's smile didn't lessen as he got the oil and gas and added them to the engine.

"Oh, I will."

ANd in about 3 minutes, a loud rhythmic noise was heard on the side of the Sparky shop. THe noise of a working engine. And John whooping it up.
