Caritas - Sunday evening [Open]

The zombies continued their Christmas music, undeterred by whatever anyone said about it. Tino still seemed a little creeped out by the first customer yesterday. GOB was bored, so he played solitaire at the bar.

It was just a quiet night. If you don't count the Christmas music. Which, for the purposes of this narrative, we're not going to.

[OOC: ~~I seem to be having some connection issues tonight.~~ My connection issues seem to be all better. WTF? Anyway, still mod Tino if I don't seem to be around, just in case.]

Sleigh bells ring, but I'm not listening because it's not even December yet.

Here we come a-wassailing among the leaves so green. We will get so stinking drunk, drunker than you've ever seen!

Clark ~~lacking emo icon woe~~ looking very tired, and very worried, came in and sat down at the bar. "What's the strongest drink you have?"

"Tino. He says he can benchpress three hundred pounds, but I don't believe him," GOB said. "Get it?"

"Hey, Tino, get this guy something strong to drink."

Clark did get it, but his smile was wan and unenthusiastic. "That's pretty good." he said.

"Great!" GOB said. When Tino brought the drink over, GOB asked, "Something wrong?"

"Family troubles." Clark said, thanking tino for the drink. he took a sip. Niiiice. He needed something very strong, because even without his powers, his Kryptonian metabolizm made it very hard to even get tipsy.

"Trust me, I understand those," GOB said. "Last weekend I was in jail for contempt of court from when I was subpoenaed at my mother's trial."

Clark paused in his drinking to look at GOB in surprise. "What was she on trial for?"

"Who knows?" GOB said. "Tax evasion, maybe a little light treason. I don't know if that charge carried over from my father. There was a mistrial, though, so she's fine for now."

"Well, that's good to hear." Clark said, bewildered. He decided not to ask about GOB's father.

"Probably good news," GOB said. He wouldn't necessarily mind his mother going to prison, to be perfectly honest. Oh well.

Clark drank a little more, then couldn't help it. "How's the rest of the family?"

"Complicated," GOB said. "It'll take me way too long to get through all the crap."

Clark nodded. "Fair enough."

"How about you? What's the dirt with your family?" GOB asked.

"My mother is dying." Clark said simply. He'd been doing his best to put up a facade, that everything was fine for the past few days. He couldn't do it anymore.

"Oh," GOB said. "Um. There there." GOB reached over to pat Clark on the shoulder.

Clark smiled slightly at that. "Thanks."

Lucifer walked up to the bar and waved to Tino. "Vodka martini."

He turned to look at the stage and the horrible Christmas music. "Not even the brat's real birthday," He muttered under his breath.

You could blame the band for him not noticing GOB, but that would be a lie.

God rest ye merry gentlemen in our spacious lounge.

It's my birthday tomorrow. Gimme presents.

*throws party*

I didn't say party, I said presents.

And anyway, everyone knows that there ain't no party like a Scranton party. It's even on a shirt (http://www.glarkware.com/securestore/c188252p16853676.2.html).
