Caritas, Monday Evening

Instead of camping, Jarod had spent the weekend inside, playing with the cat, watching gangster movies, and eating pasta. M, it turned out, was a big fan of meatballs, though hers couldn't have onions in them.

The only reason this was at all relevant was because Jarod was now playing music from those movie soundtracks in the background. The zombies kept grumbling about how they were supposed to be playing holiday music, but Jarod felt it was a little too early to be embarking on his yearly quest for a religion and was standing relatively firm on the subject. He did let them keep the Santa hats, though, and donned one himself.

Aiden decided that seeing as this had been one of the places mentioned on the napkin Dr Wilson had given her, she really should go and check it out.

She hopped onto a stool at the bar, glancing back at the zombie band surrupticiously. As you would when you see dead-looking people with limbs taped on playing instruments.

"Uh, yeah," Aiden looked back over at the band again. "Vodka martini, are the-- are they okay?" she asked. She's seen a lot of definitely dead people in her time, and they look very, very like that.

She raised an eyebrow at the taping comment, but let it slide and turned her attention back onto the guy behind the bar. "Olive, thanks," Aiden replied.

His name sounded familiar somehow, not that Aiden could place it right now, so she just nodded in acknowledgement. "New in general," she said taking the drink. "Moved here this weekend, so I'm just gettin' my bearings. I'm Aiden."

"Not got any specific questions, but I'd take any advice you wanna give with open arms." She took a sip of her drink before she continued.

"Uh, an' I'm livin' over on Apocalypse avenue," Aiden said rubbing her glass between her fingers absently.

Aiden grinned and jerked a thumb back at herself, "Number eighteen. S'nice to meet another neighbor."

Aiden snapped her fingers, and nodded in sudden realisation. "Knew the name sounded familar. Think Hawkeye might'a mentioned you when he gave me the keys."

"Haven't really had much chance to settle in yet," Aiden said. "Jus' spent most of the weekend tryin' to get my office sorted, so I haven't really been in the house."

"Private investigations," Aiden answered sipping at her drink. "Used to be a CSI before I moved here, so it's not such a career jump."

"I'm always game for any custom you wanna send me way," Aiden said with a grin. "You know where to find me."

"Lookin' at dead things all day, not whatcha want to be doin' for too long. Gets to you," she said.

It was partly the truth after all. The other half was her not wanting to come straight out with 'I got fired', because that sure wasn't the way to win custom.

Aiden turned to look back at the zombies, a little disgusted despite being used to seeing far worse in the morgue. "What's with all the duct tape?"

"Their arms fall off?" She would have gone on to talk about the feet and hands, but that seemed a little too long winded.

"They--" Aiden paused, thinking back to her conversation with John the other day. He had mentioned a zombie band. It was all starting to click, and not in a good way.

She squinted at them again, "Zombies?"

Aiden nodded slowly, "Yeah, sure." 'Cause what you really need when you find a place where zombies are real. A good dose of Pez. "Thanks."

Aiden sighed and pushed her glass back towards him. "Go crazy. I'm obviously gonna be havin' one of those weeks."

"Pudding rain?" Aiden said a certain amount of skepticism still in there.

"Oh." She couldn't really think of much else to say to that, so she took another long sip of her drink.

Zombies and demons and pudding rain, this was certainly going to be different. He wasn't kidding when he talked about keeping an open mind.
