Caritas - Saturday evening [Open]

GOB didn't make it home last night. He had been testing his new drink all night, passed out behind the bar, and he stayed there until waking up just now. So he opened the bar, completely oblivious to whatever had been going on all this time.

[OOC: Connection issues and trying to play elsewhere will probably distract me. Mod Tino, please.]

Escaping from a bunch of trolls surrounding your church was not very good for the nerves. After sneaking through the town, Rosette made her way to Caritas, needing a good, stiff drink to calm her nerves. And then she'd figure out what the hell to do. The trolls needed the church bells to not be sounded...she had no idea what the trolls were doing here, not really, but this seemed like information that needed to be passed on. But to who? How? Sucking in a worried breath, she stared into her drink as she tried to think of something.

Chrono was still in the church, too. Dammit....

Rosette sucked in a deep breath. "The strongest fuckin' drink you got," she said. "And then get me someone who knows what the hell to do."

"Thanks," Rosette said, taking a good, long swig before answering. Damn. GOB didn't play around when it came to strong, did he? But that really hit the spot.

"The trolls," she finally answered. "I had to escape from my own church, because they were holding me captive. I think something's up; and I think I might know how to bring it down."

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
"If I understood them correctly," Rosette said, leaning in on the bar and lowering her voice as if afraid there was a troll hiding around nearby and could overhear her, "ringing the church bells will get rid of them. Unfortunately, they've invaded the church; that place is more guarded than Fort Knox."

Rosette's head bobbed in a frantic nod. "G...good. Spread it around. If more people know, then the better the chances of us being able to do something about it. Even if it is a fluke, it might get them out of the church..."

Not that Rosette thought the trolls were smart enough to think of something like sending a nun out with false information believing it to be true. Her glass shook in her good hand as she sipped it, nervously keeping an eye on the door. What if they knew she was gone already, and were looking for her?

Why the hell was he concerned about customer satisfaction at a time like this? Rosette looked at him with a frown. "It...it's fine. It's good..." Lots of alcohol. What she needed right now.

After an encounter still being played with a troll in the park, and a rather intriguing phone call (http://a-phale.livejournal.com/61752.html?thread=2503224#t2503224) from Wilson, Aziraphale did a bit of hunting around town trying to track down Rosette. His handwavy attempt at locating her in the church proved fruitless, so he struck out for what he considered the second-safest place on the island -- Caritas.

Spotting the nun at the bar, he sighed in relief and headed over.

"I do apologize for bothering you, Sister, but could I speak with you for a moment?" he asked.

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
The slightly snot-nosed nun (she'd been neglecting her cold in all her worry) nearly clung to the angel's arm with her good hand as he approached her. "Oh, God, Aziraphale. You....you should know what to do....Please, tell me you know something...anything...." Her eyes searched his face desperately.

Giving Rosette a look of surprise -- because she'd struck him as being exactly the sort of person would be enjoying this sort of thing -- Aziraphale realized that the situation must have been worse than he'd imagined.

"I don't know, for certain, Sister," he said gently, producing a handkerchief for her from his pocket. "But I do have an idea we could try, although it would require getting back inside the church."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Of course she wasn't enjoying it. Damn trolls were guarding her guncase, as well.

"We have to ring the church bells, I know," she said. "They told me about it. But have you seen that place? They're everywhere! I'm still shocked I was able to escape..."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh?" Well good...obviously there were people doing their research, and Aziraphale felt a swell of pride that Wilson had come across that bit of information on his own.

"Well, I...can inside, my dear. Could get you inside as well. Unless the church is warded against intrusion by spirits, that is. That would make it a bit trickier." He wasn't sure why anyone would ward a church in such a way that it would keep out angels, but he'd seen some odd things in Fandom.

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Rosette looked very lost by all of that. "To...to the best of my knowledge, it isn't. I don't think the trolls would have thought of something like that, really, so I suppose..." She bit her lip, nervously.

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I didn't mean by the trolls," he assured her. "No, I agree, I don't think that's the sort of tactic they'd use at all. But with the warding that you find on so many of the buildings around here..."

Aziraphale shrugged, but he patted Rosette's good arm. "I'm here to help, my dear, if you need it. But this is rather new to me -- there aren't any trolls where I come from, so I'm afraid I don't really know how one is supposed to vanquish them."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Rosette shook her head. "We've never had any problems with Chrono coming in and out, so I doubt there are any spiritual barriers....so...so that should be fine. I...I've never dealt with trolls before, either...." Demons, yes. Trolls, no. She realized it was odd that she could deal so easily with the former, but the latter had her all in fright. She blamed the cold. Had to be the cold, definately.

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Aziraphale wouldn't have blamed Rosette a bit if he'd known what she was thinking. He felt much more on comfortable terms dealing with demons himself.

"There's...a rather odd convention I usually abide by. If you want help, you have to actually ask for it. So, I won't do anything unless you tell me you'd like to. Unless, of course," he added quickly, "you're in immediate danger. That's an altogether different situation."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
"That's the problem," Rosette said, "I don't know if it would help anything. But...if it could help, will you help?"

She paused to look at him expectantly. "Is that a workable way to ask?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Smiling, Aziraphale nodded. "In other words, if you come to the point where you need the help, will I give it? Yes. All you need to do is let me know. I'm going to go back to the clinic and find James, and see if I can't convince him to get a bit of rest. So I'll be there, or at our apartment, depending on whether I can convince him to go home."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Rosette nodded. "I'll be here, if you need me." She felt she was safe from the trolls here. Plus, here had alcohol.

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] a-phale.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Do be careful, my dear," Aziraphale answered, nodding again. "And let me know if there's anything you need."

Then he smiled at GOB and Tino, and headed out of the club and back toward the clinic.

Fraser came into Caritas with purpose, surveying the area for damage from the trolls that had taken up residence.

"Mr. Bluth? Are you all right?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Concerned," he said. "Have you seen what's going on outside? Is Caritas in anyway damaged?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
"This is about trolls," Fraser said, a little surprised that GOB knew what was going on. "Were you out there? Mr. Bluth, are you all right?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Rosette couldn't help overhearing. She timidly approached, with a gentle tapping on Fraser's shoulder with her good hand. "Um...ex...excuse me, sir?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes?" Fraser turned and focused on the young woman. "Are you all right?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
"Hm? Oh, yeah," Rosette waved her hand dismissively, thinking he was talking about the sling, "this is from a pre-all this injury. But, um, you mentioned the trolls..."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
"I did," he said. "Were you attacked?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Not attacked, per say," Rosette said, then decided just to go into the straight-forward explaination. "You see, they invade the church earlier today; I just recently escaped, but they....they said something that I think might help get rid of them. But the place is so guarded that...that....I..." She was starting to feel a little overwhlemed by her helplessness again, breath catching in her chest.

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
Fraser placed a kind hand on her shoulder, hoping to comfort. "It's all right. You're not there and they can't come in here for the time being."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Rosette nodded. Those trolls were stupid, but not that stupid, and they'd probably realized she was gone by now. "You have to ring the bells," she blurted out. "That's why they're there. So that we can't."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Ring the bells?" Fraser paused. "The church bells? If that's so, I've got to get this information to the principal. Will you be okay here, ma'am?"

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Rosette nodded. "Yes," she said. Here had alcohol. She'd be just swell. "Just...there are a lot of them. It won't be any small feat..."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I understand." He nodded and tipped his hat. "Thank you for your bravery."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] nun-better.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Rosette was about to argue about the bravery from sticking her tail between her legs and fleeing to a bar, but then she remembered that she had tea with those damn trolls. Have you ever had tea with trolls? For an entire day? Psssh. She took her compliment with a nod. "Good luck."

Re: The Bar [12/2]

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com 2006-12-03 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
He tipped his hat and left the bar quickly.
