It's been a looooooong week but after everything that's happened Jamie find the process of going to work somewhat relaxing.

Not that he's actually working. He's really just staring at the egg sitting on the counter and resisting the urge to make a Denver omelet.

He's hoping the kid's music blaring over the store's speakers crush that urge.

After her meeting with Zoe, Marie took a walk through town. She stopped at The Perk and picked up two peppermint mochas and then headed over to Empire to visit Jamie.

"Hey," she greeted with a grin. She blinked when she heard the music. "Um, what are you listening to?"

Jamie grinned and made and elaborate shushing sound. "She just fell asleep," he said pointing at the egg.

Jamie made sure the egg was securely on the counter before going over to Marie and offering her a hug. "How's the first day back at Fandom so far?"

Marie put the mochas on the counter and hugged Jamie back. "It's good. I talked to Principal Washburn and she re-enrolled me with no problems."

She stepped back and handed him one of the mochas. "Here, I stopped by The Perk. What's the deal with the egg?"

"Class project. I'm a daddy with Sam Carter," Jamie said with a grin. "Please understand that just because we have a child that doesn't mean I love you any less. Ooo. Coffee. Just what I need. Thank you.

"I go away for three weeks and you have a baby with someone else?" Marie asked, feigning an offended tone. "Well, you'll have to do something pretty amazing to make up for that," she teased.

"It's a peppermint mocha; a holiday flavor," she explained. "How's your day going?"

"Quiet," Jamie said looking very happy about it. "After the last few days? It's like a vacation."

Jamie slipped his arms around Marie's waist. "Gosh. What amazing thing can I do to make it up to you?"

"Gee, I don't know," Marie said, snuggling against him. "It would have to be awfully impressive. Like saving my life or something."

"Oh gee. Did I do that already this week? Or should I give you a rain check for next time?" Jamie joked.

Suddenly he was holding Marie very tight.

"Can I say it's just great to have you back?"

"It's very good to be back," Marie said, sniffling a little as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Jamie kissed her gently on the top of her head and just held her for a bit. "Place wasn't the same without you."

Marie was totally content to be held. "I missed you a lot," she said.

"I missed you more," Jamie teased. "There were alot more of me to miss you."

Chuckling, Marie reached for her mocha, not straying far from Jamie. "Okay, okay, you win," she conceded.

Jamie smiled. "So what next on your docket for the big return to Fandom? Hang out with me? See a few friends? Hang out with me some more? Get something to eat and... oh I don't now. Hang out with me?"

"Calling all my teachers to find out if there's only hope of me passing my finals next week," Marie told him. "I'll probably spend most of the weekend studying."

She bit her lip. "Oh. One thing Principal Washburn did say was that I should try to find someone to act as my guardian. She removed my parents from all my records."

"I'm sure your professors will cut you a break," Jamie said sipping his coffee. Mmm. Minty. "Any idea who your guardian is going to be?"

Marie shrugged. "Not sure yet. Someone who doesn't have a problem with mutants, that's for sure."

"I'm sure you'll find someone. If anything we can find someone at Xavier's to help out. It's not unusual for this to happen from time to time," Jamie said. "Someone there might be willing to be a guardian."

"Definitely not that guy who busted Willow and Peter making out in the bathroom," Marie giggled.

"He's not really the legal guardian type," Jamie snickered. "He's more the smoke cigars and wonder why he's hanging out with teenagers kind of guy."

"He seemed nice," Marie said. "Made me laugh."

Jamie didn't scowl at that. "I make you laugh," Jamie said in a jealous way where he wasn't trying to be jealous.

"I know you do," Marie assured him. "But I'm pretty sure you can't be my legal guardian."
