There was a sign posted at the front door:

G.O.B. Bluth Presents:
The Second Annual
Three Minute Dates @ Caritas
hosted by A Matchmaker Named G.O.B.

The sign ended up being covered in snow, though. If people had heard about the night's event previously, they'd know it was here. If they didn't, well, then they might get pulled into the event by GOB when they really weren't expecting it.

Inside the bar at precisely 5:55 PM, the familiar opening of "The Final Countdown" blared and GOB strutted out onto the stage. He did his standard illusions plus a couple new tricks (Tino put the fire out before the dove flew too far, and a squirrel emerged from the resulting mess. It was pretty impressive as long as you didn't know that fire wasn't supposed to enter into it at all.)

Finally, he was done. "Ladies and gentlemen, I welcome you to a new world of understanding! A new world of socialization! A new world... of dating!" On the last word, twin bursts of smoke went off behind GOB for emphasis. A banner almost identical to the sign out front dropped above the stage. "I welcome you all to the Second Annual Three Minute Dates at Caritas!"

"When I call your name and the name of someone else, you will find each other, look longingly into each others' eyes, and figure out whether or not you give a damn about whatever they're talking about. If you do, remember that for later because you'll have to do the same thing four more times! When we're all done, you'll have the opportunity to come up here onto the stage and open your heart, hold up a sign with the person you want most, and hope you don't get your heart broken. But if you do get your heart broken, hit the bar and get trashed!"

At some point during this, eight sprigs of floating mistletoe made their way into the club and looked around for people to make kiss.

"Oh, and too many guys signed up, so the men are going to have a few gay dates. Hope you don't mind."

[OOC: Three minutes equals ten comments for our purposes. That's five comments per person. Try your very best to get it wrapped up in that time. You do NOT have to do these in chronological order. Do them as people are available. Just try not to screw up your chronology if you can.

Remember, if you slap someone, you will be teleported out of the club and will have to make your way back.

The eight sprigs of mistletoe are for the following people to mod: Jarod, Dr Venture, Jay, Conner, Teddy, Aly, Rosette, and Will. Each of you can mod just one sprig during only one round. As per Hawkeye's post last night, the mistletoe will yell until you kiss the person you're with or you trick the mistletoe. Since each of you can only use it once, though, you should choose wisely. During mistletoe rounds, you can go as high as fifteen comments just to deal with the extra complication. :)

Please try to get through all of this today. If you can't, though, feel free to finish up tomorrow.

GOB was at the bar, preparing his illusions and making Tino bring him drinks. There was a signup sheet that you don't need to actually play signing up, God bless handwaviness just so GOB had the names.

If, for some reason, you needed to be unexpectedly pulled into this terrible event by its host, this is where that would happen. Ping me in IM to let me know that, though.

The Tick arrived at the bar and ordered a chocolate milk to calm his nerves. He hadn't done this dating thing much. Or at all. Unless you counted his courtship of Justice. Most people wouldn't.

Jay and Silent Bob walked in together, Jay spending five frustrated and highly profane minutes trying to convince his tubby lifemate to sign up with him before finally giving up and doing it by himself.

Silent Bob sidled up to the bar and gave Tino the universally accepted sign for "pint of bitter, please" and sat back to watch the show.
