Luke's diner - Monday

It was his first shift at the diner today and in honour of Luke, Cameron was wearing his cap backwards. He was actually in a pretty good mood despite the fact that he had been hiding out from the flood of new students. If anyone asked, he wasn't sulking over the holidays being over.

Peter had gotten his class schedule and was still walking around in a daze wondering how he ended up in Home Ec. He really just hoped Edmund never heard about it. He wandered down to Luke's to get lunch and grinned when he saw Cameron. "Stickbug Brother!"

"Yo, Peter!" Cameron greeted. "How's it going?"

"Classes are starting," Peter said, wrinkling his nose. "Really, I'm perfectly alright without them. How about you?"

"Some of them aren't that bad," Cameron chuckled. "I'm good. I've got a new job for the last semester, but the holidays could have lasted a bit longer if you ask me."

"What are you taking?" Peter asked. He shrugged, grinning. "I really can't complain. I got a longer holiday because I was at home, but still. I agree, it could be longer."

"Lucky you. I went home for a couple of days and then went to LA to spent the rest of the holidays with Veronica," he replied. "Do you want something to eat before we start comparing schedules?"

"Oh? How was that?" Peter asked. "Did you go to Disney Land with Isabel and Cedric?" He thought for a second. "And yes please, could I have a hamburger and chips? I mean, french fries?"

"Sure thing," Cameron jotted down the order and gave it through to the kitchen.

"I totally failed at the being social part," he admitted when he returned. "Veronica and I mostly made up for lost time so I'm going to have to go back to LA and visit Disney Land next time."

"Understandable though," Peter said with a grin. "How is Veronica?"

"Good," he grinned. "She said goodbye to the dorm life and moved in with Piper this weekend. It should make visiting a bit easier." His mind of course was elsewhere for a moment and when he realised that Peter might not need to know this kind of stuff, he quickly changed subject.

"So classes... I think I'm in Home economics, extraterristrial civilisations, sociology of space travel and something about gods. You?"

Peter hid a smile at Cam's quick change of subject. "I'm glad everything's going well for you two."

"I'm in tactics, villainy, engineering, and home ec as well. I don't know about the last one. I don't remember signing up for that." He frowned. "Isn't home ec like cooking and sewing?"

Cameron nodded, trying not to grin at Peter's question. "Yeah, it's practical stuff like that. They're good skills to have."

"I don't know," Peter said, scowling slightly and trying very hard to refrain from saying that they were good skills for girls to have. "As long as we don't have to learn embroidery."

"Yeah, I'm not sure if I'm made for that," Cameron laughed. He looked around as he heard a bell ring and grinned.

"Food's here," he said and went to pick up the plate and put it down in front of Peter on the counter. "Want anything to drink?"

"Definitely not," Peter replied. He looked at his hands. "My fingers are not small enough for a needle and silk thread. I'll leave that to my sisters."

"No, thank you. It smells really good."
