Luke's diner - Monday

It was his first shift at the diner today and in honour of Luke, Cameron was wearing his cap backwards. He was actually in a pretty good mood despite the fact that he had been hiding out from the flood of new students. If anyone asked, he wasn't sulking over the holidays being over.

"Morning, ma'am," Cameron greeted cheerfully. "Take any seat and I'll be right over."

Evie pushed open the door to the cafe, and said over her shoulder to Jack, "Well, really, how else was I going to explain the trolls to her?" She looked around Luke's, and smiled approvingly. "Oh, that smells delicious. Can I have a hamburger? Cheeseburger!"

"But a power outage?" he asked. "Wouldn't it have been easier just to tell her nothing? And you can have anything you want, Evie." Jack placed a hand on Evie's back and guided her to a table, then pulled out a chair.

"Well, I talked rather a lot about the school, and I said that you'd taken care of me one weekend before I really thought it through." Evie looked a tiny bit embarassed as she took her seat. "So, power outage! This school is so modern, you know." She nodded vehemently. She pushed a wrapped basket across the table to him, then too a menu. "Ooo. With french fries! And a milkshake! I've had them here, but I usually forget about new food and just eat something I'm used to. With bacon on the burger!"

Peter had gotten his class schedule and was still walking around in a daze wondering how he ended up in Home Ec. He really just hoped Edmund never heard about it. He wandered down to Luke's to get lunch and grinned when he saw Cameron. "Stickbug Brother!"

"Yo, Peter!" Cameron greeted. "How's it going?"

"Classes are starting," Peter said, wrinkling his nose. "Really, I'm perfectly alright without them. How about you?"

Irulan enterd the diner wearing her best hat. Cafeteria food had not sufficed, she hoped this diner would provide more.

It took a moment for Cameron to remember that he was supposed to greet people as he was too distracted staring at the hat. He somehow managed to shake his surprise, but he wasn't quite meeting Irulan's eyes as he adressed her.

"Good day. Would you like a ha- menu?"

"Yes, please and a statement that none of your foodstuff is poisoned." Irulan said, taking out a sheet of paper, "And your signed signature."

Irulan nodded, there was something about his bearing that reminded her of some of her courtiers. "Good afternoon."

From behind the counter, Yitzhak noted the young woman's headdress with some degree of awe. Envy, even.

With the right dress, he personally thought he'd look stunning in something like that.

If Irulan noticed she was being watched, she would have surely, subtly moved her head for a better angle. Oh no, she wasn't vain. Nope.

Yitzhak decided to see how Cameron was doing on his first shift, and clumped into the diner, where he took up a position behind the counter to watch impassively.

"Good day, sir," Cameron greeted his new boss and decided that even impassive was better than a pervy robot.

Yitzhak nodded to him and shifted his position in such a way as to imply that he wasn't trying to be intimidating. Yet. Then he shrugged one shoulder as if to say 'Carry on, then.'
