Caritas - Sunday evening [Open]

There was a big sign on the banana shack next to the bar. It read:

GOODBYE STEVE HOLT!
Steve Holt!
That's right, Steve Holt's time in Fandom was coming to a close already. Never saw that coming, what with him not even having a journal of his own. Anyway, there was celebrating with drinks and frozen bananas, which isn't nearly as dirty as it sounds.

Caritas was open and saying farewell to the son of GOB.

[OOC: I am very distracted by 24 at the moment. Mod Tino. Or, if you want a frozen banana, mod Steve Holt! Now in the right place. Told you I was distracted.]

"He's leaving?" Becky asked, frowning at the sign as she came in.

Still wearing very conservative clothes.

"We both decided that he needed to go be with his family," GOB said. "That way his kid doesn't turn out like him."

Steve piped in, "That's true. Hi Becky."

"Hi Steve." Becky looked marginally alarmed. "You decided this...together? Without outside help?"

"Yep," GOB said.

"We rule!" Steve said.

"Go us!" GOB said.

"GO US!" Steve repeated, raising his arms.

Becky looked expectantly at GOB. "Aren't you going to do the arm thingy too?"

"I really shouldn't," GOB said.

"Why not?" she asked.

"Well, if you must know..." GOB sighed. He raised his arms and two things happened. First, a shower of pennies fired from his left sleeve. Second, a shower of flames fired from his right sleeve.

"Uh, Dad," Steve said.

"Now I've shot both wads," GOB said. "Happy?"

"Dad?" Steve said.

"What, Son?" GOB asked.

"The door is on fire," Steve pointed out. Sure enough, the flame from GOB's wrist landed on the door to the banana shack.

Becky, on the other hand, was applauding.

"Don't put it out!" she said, looking at the door and quickly grabbing a bottle of...something from behind the bar and flinging it at the door. Yay, more fire!

"My son's in there!" GOB yelled. Tino had already grabbed the fire extinguisher, but that didn't stop GOB from grabbing it and rushing to the flame-covered wall. The sprinklers were going off, but by the time it and GOB got the fire put out, the door wall was gone and the rest of the shack was structurally weakened. The other walls then fell over.

"I could have died," Steve said. "I really need to be with my son."

Eat eat eat!

"Well, Son, you should probably get going to the bus," GOB said.

"Yeah, probably," Steve said. "I really appreciate this. You set me in the right direction. I'm going to be the best damn father I never had!"

"You do that, Son! You do that! Come here!" GOB demanded. They hugged a manly hug, then released it.

"Bye, Steve," Becky said with a wave.

She hoped she didn't also get a manly hug.

"Steve Holt!" Steve said in response, raising his arms. And when they lowered, he was trying to hug Becky with a plan in mind to try to cop a feel. He really was GOB's son.

Becky swatted his hand away.

Gently. She didn't want to get knocked out into the street again.

It was worth a shot. Steve let go and stepped behind the bar to grab his duffle bag. "Bye. I'll call when I get back home!"

GOB smiled. "You know what? When you're back, call your Uncle Mike. Tell him that his brother is telling him to give you a good job with the family company."

Steve smiled. "Thanks!" He took one final look around and said, "Bye." And then Steve Holt walked out of the bar and left Fandom.

Several minutes, he got on the wrong bus. Two days later, he was in Canada. And several months after leaving Fandom, thanks to a huge paperwork mistake, Steve Holt became a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

"Nice kid," Becky commented after Steve had left.

"Dumb as a brick, but yeah," GOB said. "Eve Holt did a pretty good job raising him. Would have been better if I was there for him-" That was debatable. "- but he didn't turn out as bad as he could have."

"...her name is Eve Holt?"

"Yeah, but she went by 'EVE HOLT!'" GOB said, raising his arms. Another burse of flame fired, but it landed on doused wood from the shack and died out quickly. "Kind of dumb."
