Fast Eddie's - Friday night

After visiting Xander yet to be played out Parker headed for Fast Eddie's, and started practicing her shots before Weiss showed up.

Chris gave Parker a nervous wave when he spotted her, but he was too busy shifting his weight from foot to foot, hoping Jo was actually going to show up. He had a gift (http://www.ftd.com/5970/catalog/product.epl?product_id=X050&index_id=occasion_imsorry) with him, which he set on the table he rented.

"Hey, Chris," Jo said, waving as she came over to him.

"Jo, you made it," Chris said, smiling with relief. "I rented the table for an hour, do you think that will be long enough?"

Jo smiled back. "Should be enough to get a good start at least," she said.

His smile grew a little bit bigger and a lot dorkier. "Oh, um, this is for you," he said, holding out the gift.

"Aw, thanks," Jo said, taking it. "That's so sweet of you."

"Well, you deserve a lot more than that after the way I treated you last weekend," Chris said. "But I figured this was a good start."

He ducked his head shyly and then turned his attention to the table. "Okay, so... I know a little bit about pool," he said, not adding that he had done research on the internet over the last few days. "And I know we have to rack the balls, but I'm not sure how to do that."

"Well, it can vary depending on the game," Jo started racking the balls as she spoke. "But most times the eight ball goes in the middle of the rack."

Chris watched her move the balls into position NOT DIRTY OMG and nodded. "And you don't want to get the eight ball in until you get the rest of the balls in, right?"

"Uh huh," Jo replied. "You do that before you've got your balls in and you've lost."

"I think I can handle that," Chris said, walking over to the wall rack and pulling down two cues, passing one to her. It occurred to him, belatedly, that a date involving anything that could be construed as a weapon might not be the best idea.

Jo, conversely, might have chosen the pool hall specifically for that reason. "Good to hear. So you know anything about how to break?"

Parker waved lazily to him, smiled when she saw Jo, and made a note to go say hi later.

"So, I was told I could find a completely hot secret agent femme fatale type here," Weiss said from behind Parker. He wrapped his arms around her and whispered in her ear. "Think I found her."

Parker grinned and relaxed back against him, muttering, "Secret Agent Voice. Ooo. Still not fair." She gestured with her pool cue, other arm snaking backwards to circle his waist. "Soooo. Now you've found her. What are you going to do with her, Mr. Weiss?"

"Terrible, terrible things," Weiss said, low and fairly sexy. He spun away and grabbed a pool cue off the rack. "Like kick your ass at pool."

"Oh, you wish!" Parker stumbled back a little, chortling. "You are gonna beeeeeg for mercy, Weiss." Anyone paying attention might notice that she was over-articulating her words, very, very carefully.

Weiss? Not at the stage where he notices every little thing. He racked up the balls. "If you're so sure, then I give you break."

"You're a good guy," Parker observed. "And not a schmuck. And I'm still kicking your ass." She grinned, and moved to the end of the table, and carefully set her fingers to hold the cue. "Two on the break."

She hit the cue ball hard, and two balls *did* go in on the break. One of each color, though. "Hmmmm. Stripes?"

"I'm cool with it," Weiss said. "And when was I a schmuck?"

"You weren't. Other people have been." Parker smiled at him, and then nodded to where she'd left her purse. A manila file folder was perched next to it. "Plans. For tomorrow. For prepping." She leaned over carefully, skirt riding up only an inch or so, and took the shot. "Noon. You have a black suit?"

Weiss picked up the folder. "Yeah, wore it to Homecoming, remember?"

"Riiiight." Parker made a shooting-motion with one finger, then took a very sloppy shot. "Damn. Your turn," she said, sounding more cheerful than usual.

Weiss got it. Finally. Drinkiness. He kept this discovery to himself. He put the folder down and took his shot. Not perfect but it got the job done. One in the pocket. "Ooooh yeah!"

Parker pouted, and wandered around the table, 'til she was staring at him from the other side of his next shot. "Jinx," she chanted under her breath, leaning on the table, cleavage gaping a bit. "Jinx, jinx, jinx..."
