Empire Records; Monday [ 02/12 ]

The weekend was a little bit of a haze for Chad after the slumber party; lots of sleep. Or so he hoped. He was hoping work would get him back into the swing of things, but he was really just putzing around and thinking about how to best bring his plans for Valentine's Day into fruition.

Pippi flounces into the store.

Chad was always appriciative of flouncing. "Hey, Pippi."

"What's up?"

Chad's eyes darted upward. "Ceiling?" he ventured.

"Thank goodness it is so!" Pippi nodded.

"Definately," Chad agreed, immediately thinking again to I-Beams. And then he paused for a moment, looking thoughtful, before saying, "Hey, lemme get your opinion on something, Pippi."

"Sure thing." she nodded. "What's up?"

"Valentine's Day coming up," Chad pointed out. "I'm trying to decide if I should do something for Ted. I mean, it's really more of a chick holiday, y'know, but I also kinda want to do something. Never...never really had anyone to celebrate it with before."

That? Would be the start of a dopey grin on his face, by the way.

And if that isn't the cutest thing ever, Pippi doesn't know what is.

"Well, there's the dance. You can ask him to that... But I don't think it's really just for girls. I mean, my understanding about the actual Saint Valentine's day is that it celebrated a priest who would marry people who were in love but not permitted to be married otherwise for some reason? And he was punished or something... So it's more like... How... Love is valuable. Not just the love you have for that special someone. But also the love other people have for eachother. So, I think if you want to do something nice for him on Valentine's Day, I think that's sweet."

Chad nodded. In Japan, it was all for the girls..he did not particularly want to recall that first year in Japan, awkward, fourteen year old, already five million feet taller than everyone else giving a girl he liked a box of chocolates on Valentine's Day and getting teased mercilessly for it. Then again, that whole first year in Japan was pretty much all like that...

But Chad nodded, finding that Pippi'd once again reassured him that maybe it would be okay. Even there was still the awkwardness because, really, he'd never imagined really spending his first real big Valentine's Day thing with a guy, either.

"You an' Pip doing anything special?"

Pippi bit her bottom lip.

"I dunno." she admitted.

Chad grunted a bit, thoughtfully. That didn't really help him very much, but, really, he wasn't sure if her knowing would, either...

"So what were you thinking?"

Chad shrugged, shoving his hands into his pockets. "I dunno; dinner maybe?" The only real date they'd ever had was for dinner, which, logically, meant Teddy liked dinner.

"Dinner is good. Ya gonna go out or say in?"

Chad considered. "Go out, I think. M'not much of a cook, and it could be a little more private that way."

Andy!Billy walked tentatively into the store, looking nervous and maybe a bit lost.

"Can I help you with anything?" Chad grunted the standard-issue greeting.

"Oh, hello." Andy!Billy said in halting english. "I am needing, eh, record, you know?"

Chad wondered why Billy was acting a little strange...and lacking of grunts, considering that that was how almost all thier conversations seemed to go. So Chad grunted and nodded, "Vinyls are in the back, man."

"Tenk you veddy much." Andy said, and went to look for the right one. "Eh, you have, eh, record...player?" he asked.

"Uhhh," Chad moved around the counter and drifted over to section. "We got one, but it's just for in store use. If you wanted to buy one....I don't know what to tell you."

Andy frowned. Dang he kinda needed a player. Didn't know why he didn't have one in his room. "Eh, could, could I, ehm, you know, borrow?"

Chad took a peek at the album. "We got that on CD, man, why don't you just get that and then buy a CD player, 'cause we got those."
