Café Fina, Valentine's Day

Walter stared in perplexity at the sign that read: While Supplies Last! Free shiny exploding pants with every meal!

And he left it up.

Why not? It was Valentine's Day. Let people's pants explode. In an entirely not dirty way, thank you very much.

There are roses on every table. Silverware that may or may not back talk, and the chairs have had a good talking to about staying where they're supposed to be when people sit down.

Café Fina is ready for Valentine's Day, even if Walter is not necessarily ready for Café Fina.

The pot knew Walter's name. It talked, and it knew Walter's name.

Yeah, okay, so the plates and stuff were moving around and giggling and stuff out front. But the pot wanted Walter to introduce them.

Nadia's mind? It was boggling.

"They're so . . . cute!"

There may have been a few stainless steel snickers and one whistle buried under a clattering lid.

Walter rolled his eyes but raised his voice, "This is Nadia. Nadia, this is... the kitchen."

More chorusing (talented, ain't they?) this time greetings.

Nadia waved a little self-consciously. "Hi . . . kitchen. How are you?"

"Fine."

"Good."

"I'm hotter than that guy."

This last from the same pot that had clattered its lid at her.

"That's because you're on the stove," Walter said to the pot, handing her a bag. "So you're not very clever."

Nadia was giggling like a fiend. "Sorry, um, pot-guy. But I like them human shaped. But you're very cute and I'm sure you'll find a nice kettle to be your valentine."

Soooooooooooo cute.

Walter snickered at that and held the door open. "I think we should go before I lose my girlfriend to a shiny bit of steel."

Nadia blew the pot a kiss (mostly to see if it could blush) and headed out. "They are so cute. Why didn't you tell me they were that cute? They're like, little talking, intelligent pot-pets!"

"Uh...." Walter glanced over at her. "This was my first day back."

Cute? Pot-pets?

Okay, so he didn't have that gene or something.

"Ohhhhh yeah. Sorry. Anyway. Do we still want to sneak into the hotel? Or should we try the dorms?"
